Soap stone is commonly found in Southwestern Kenya and is carved into all sorts of decorative shapes. The stone is for example carved into pretty dishes, which are typically decorated with colorful engravings.

This garment is very typical for Kenya and is worn by women in many different ways. For example as a skirt, dress or simply to wrap their baby on their back. The leso is typically very colorful and decorated with a Swahili saying or figure of speech. From female farmers to modern girls, this garment is worn by many. Simply wrapped around your hips in traditional style or tailored into a modern fitting.

Ich arbeite am Seminar für Ländliche Entwicklung (SLE) an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin zu Ernährungssicherung und Klimawandelanpassung. So unterstütze ich in meiner Forschung insbesondere die Förderung von Kleinbauern in Kenia und anderen Ländern. Esther und Steven kenne ich seit 2 Jahren. Ich bewundere ihre Kraft und Ausdauer, ökologische Gemüsegärten mit Kleinbauern aufzubauen.
