The Place

In Lausanne, it’s rare to find workspace for artists. Opened ten years ago, Les Ateliers Bellevaux have always worked to merge knowledge and techniques. So far, they have allowed up to fifty applied art artists and professionals to develop their various activities. About 20 people are currently working in 12 different workshops (painting, drawing, sculpture, graphic design, video, cinema, mozaique), employing the whole of the existing 500 m2.

Today, Les Ateliers Bellevaux are expanding 500 m2 in a former warehouse next to the existing building.

The new space.
The new space.

Our project : a stimulating work facility dedicated to contemporary creation and exhibitions.

In addition to the creation of 15 new workplaces, this new space intends to become a platform to share materials and knowledge, printing workshop (screen printing , engraving, digital printing, book binding), model workshop (wood treatment, wood cutting, sculpture, creation and realization of objects) and a permanent exhibition space. These differents working spaces will be made available to artists in residence and will be enriched by an editorial structure and curatorial centre.

Our goals: elaboration, production and exhibition in the same space. Our new structure will allow us to propose artist books, talks, workshops, videos, residences and exhibitions.

Our precise needs / our objectives

Our priority is to inhabit the space. Some work is required to convert it (soiled water disposal system, kitchen, flexible partitions), and this is where we sollicit your generous support. Les Ateliers Bellevaux are hoping to be able to count on a grant from the city council and on some financial help from various foundations to set up the edition structure and the exhibition space

Our wish is to enhance the existing artistic scene in Lausanne with a new dynamic.
