ABOUT THE PROJECT

Dear friends, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign to release a vinyl record of Antuni — the third album by Margenrot. Margenrot is the solo project of Armenian musician Lusia Kazaryan.

The funds will go toward pressing 300 records. The release will come out on the independent book and music publishing house Rosa 15 — this will be its first music release.

Rosa 15 was founded by Timur Akhmetov, creator of Budka Tbilisi, the bookstore Posta da Kona and publisher Posta Press, together with Natasha Ganelina, a music curator and author of the show Acid Mental Sentimental on the British online radio ROVR

ABOUT THE ALBUM

Antuni (translated from Armenian as «homeless») was created over five years. It is a personal statement about fragility, vulnerability, and the search for grounding in a world where conflict has become part of everyday life.

Antuni is a genre of gusan song (gusans were Armenian folk singers and rhapsodes) – a story told by a homeless, eternal wanderer, exiled and deprived of homeland. The album’s title also refers to the melancholic ballad Antuni («The Song of the Wanderer») by the Armenian composer, folklorist, and monk Komitas. This work was dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

The album weaves together traditional Armenian chants and chorales with electronic music and field recordings. Breakbeat is layered with conversations between Lucy’s relatives about the fading village of Naokhrebi (an Armenian village in Georgia), while samples of Komitas’ liturgy, recorded in a Catholic church, contrast with fractured rhythms.

This is an album about national identity and inner wandering — between contemporary wars and deeply personal, existential experiences

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

We are building this project out of commitment and belief. We want this music to take physical form — a vinyl record — and to be heard beyond a small underground community.

We have already started the vinyl production and covered part of the costs ourselves. With this campaign, we hope to at least partially cover the production expenses, or invest these funds into promoting the album and bringing it to a wider audience.

Our minimum goal is to cover the cost of vinyl production. Our maximum is to cover all production costs and work with a European PR agency that can bring this music to new listeners.

Anything raised beyond that will go toward supporting future releases. Help us stay independent, bring this project to life, and launch what comes next. Thank you for helping us bring this release into the world.
