Movement for movement

Movement is good for us. It gives energy, creates connection, strengthens self-confidence and helps us grow beyond ourselves. These are the positive experiences we would like to support and share. On 30 July, we - Andrin Steiner and Jonas Graf - will run the Alpstein Königstour in our home mountains: 87 kilometres with around 6,000 metres of elevation gain. Under the motto «Movement for Movement», we are symbolically raising one franc for every metre climbed - with the goal of collecting CHF 6,000 for a sports project in N’Djamena, Chad.

Why sport makes a difference locally

With the funds raised, we want to make an after-school sports programme with a focus on football possible. Many children and young people there do not currently have regular access to safe leisure activities, sports grounds or guided training sessions. Football offers a simple and accessible starting point: it is easy to organise, reaches many children and young people, and at the same time promotes belonging and important social skills such as teamwork, fairness and self-confidence. The programme will be embedded in the LifeSkills programmes of International Blue Cross (IBC). These programmes strengthen young people in key life skills, health promotion and prevention.

How your donations will be used

With CHF 6,000, a sports programme for over 300 children and young people can likely be carried out every two weeks for one year. The plan is to organise eight groups with regular football sessions, support from local partners and integration into the existing LifeSkills activities. As Jonas works in project management at IBC and will be in Chad in October, the sports programme can be set up and accompanied together with long-standing local partners. This also means we will be able to report back directly on what the donations have made possible. The donations will be used specifically for the organisation and implementation of the trainings, local supervision, basic equipment and coordination on site. We are very grateful for every contribution and look forward to making movement possible together.
