Dear backers,
I am now again officially employed by the University of Bern, wohoo! I currently have a 65% in March & April, and then a smaller percentage until the end of the year to evaluate the workshop, write a research paper and such (I have another commitment in that period as well). Thank you so much again for making this happen! If you want to follow the project, you can now also subscribe to the newsletter at the project’s official and updated website at the University of Bern: www.planetarysustainability.unibe.ch Or just send me a mail that you want to stay in touch. Merci!
Kindest regards, Andreas

Dear backers,
2 days to go, so now it is time to cross the finish line. I am talking to whomever I can, and if you do the same, I am confident we will reach the goal on Wednesday! WEMAKEIT.COM even put our project as «fancy» on the front line now, wohoo! Together, we will indeed make it!
THANK YOU for all your great support!

Dear backers,
thank you for your great support so far. We have 4 days left!
Do you like the idea of an SDG18 Space Environment? Then you can now choose three new reward levels to show it. For the symbolic amounts of 18, 180 and 1800 CHF you receive a SDG18 sticker, a really cool T-shirt printed locally on a sustainable basis* (it glows in the dark!) or just a huge THANK YOU for making the PLASUS21 workshop and the promotion of the idea of an 18.Sustainable Development goal a success.
We will maybe have additional support coming in, but I don’t know how much will be possible, so in the few days left, every additional amount counts! Maybe just register your support for the SDG18 with a small donation. It does help. There is also a SDG18 presentation video of mine being prepared, but unfortunately I don’t know if still in time for this crowdfunding effort. I will link it as a news nevertheless, as soon when it is done.
Thank you again for being a great crowd!
Andreas

Dear backers,
Meet the UZH INNOVATION HUB, our first and visionary partner for the workshop: https://www.innovation.uzh.ch/en.html. The hub is a platform for innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Zurich. It acts as a catalyst to accelerate the development of new inventions and ideas and strengthens the transfer of innovative research and teaching to the economy and society, exactly what our workshop aims at. The UZH innovation hub supports us with 5.000 CHF! The hub’s director, Oliver Ullrich, will also be a speaker on our workshop.
We also have a media partner now, SPACEWATCH.GLOBAL. Best known by its series of Space Cafés and the opinion pieces published on its website, Space Watch Global provides an independent perspective on space.
That’s both great news! Unfortunately, the UZH Innovation hub probably can’t be pay into the crowdfunding. This means we need to continue sharing & find kind donors for this crowdfunding. But maybe UZH’s great example will inspire others to sponsor as well. 6 days left, and we continue talking to more potential sponsors!

Dear backers,
while we are approaching the final days of the project and continue talking to potential sponsors, we want to assure you: all our textiles are super comfy and come from sustainability oriented companies, of course:
-
The COMET Shirts (available in blue melange or bright blue) come from Wijld: they make «clothing from wood - environmentally friendly, locally and fairly manufactured! Wooden clothing is extremely soft and has unique features. They have antibacterial properties, are temperature regulating and simply stay fresh for longer.» https://www.wijld.com/en/
-
The MOON Hoodies come from the equally social and ecological company Green Shirts https://www.green-shirts.com/en . «Each new day Green Shirts begins with the dream of reducing exploitation, pollution and environmental degradation, striving to fulfill it together with those that share the same social and ecological values.»
As you seem to love the hoodies particularly, we talked to the CEO of green shirts, and they are happy to restart production for us. So hoodies are available again (see image), you can go for it!
By the way: Our artist is Antonio Meza, have a look at @antoonsparis on Instagram. All rewards are uniquely designed for this project and you can only get them here. And remember: you do not buy the textiles, but you are so kind to donate to the University of Bern, and we thank you with these unique goodies as rewards.
So thank you!!
Andreas

Esteemed backers,
a preliminary workshop schedule is up! You can see it in this news or on the bottom of the project’s page as a slideshow. It will always be kept up to date. #PLASUS21 – «PLAnetary SUStainability 21: Challenges, Opportunities and Necessities» will connect space & global sustainability, key space actors and sustainability thinkers and take place on Thursday 29/4/21 9-17 CET online via Zoom. Have a look! Registration to the workshop will be free of charge for all, and we work on that the presentations will also be streamed.
We have 10 days left, I am talking to several potential sponsors, and every amount counts, big and small! Please share the exciting news about the workshop, so the crowd growths. Let’s go for it!
Cheers, Andreas

After a 6 month journey, the Perseverance probe has successfully landed and will soon start searching for traces of life on Mars. Why is that important? Choose the new Perseverance reward level and you’ll receive a copy of «What is Life? On Earth and Beyond» (Cambridge University Press) signed by me, the editor, and learn more about the significance of this search for life. I will also mention you as a «probe» on the project homepage and in project publications.
More information on this book you will find on the publishers website, chapter abstracts are available on https://www.theologie-naturwissenschaften.de/literatur/aus-der-redaktion#c1671 . Enjoy reading! And thank you for your support to this project, you help space to stay accessible for future generations!

Dear backers,
this is not only to remind you of our awesome goodies like the «ASTEROID» mug , whose concept study you see here, but to raise your awareness of the fact that your contributions count as donations, at least in Switzerland. All the money goes to the University of Bern, and they will employ me a while, if we manage.
So different from other crowdfundings you do not buy goods in advance, the goodies are just «thank you’s» for a donation you made. So let’s go. Check your coffee mug: need a new one? Happy not to be a dinosaur? Thank the Asteroid and go for it!
Cheers, Andreas

Dear backers,
we have 2 weeks left to reach our target. This will be possible, if you tell others about the project, share it on your social media, websites and lists, and help us find some sponsors as well. Myself, I am talking to several potential supporters at the moment, fingers crossed! The help of the crowd, so of you esteemed backers, is nevertheless essential. That’s how crowdfunding works!
The details of the #PLAnetarySUStainability 21 workshop will very soon be released. Many important speakers have already signed up. I guess that will help attracting sponsors.
So spread the word, - and maybe you are also interested to book another reward as well? Every amount helps!
Thank you for your support!

Thank you so much to all who support the project already! We had a decent start, but its certainly still a way to go. Most important will be to find sponsors for the #PLASUS21 workshop, whose current lineup you can find here: https://saveourplanet.info/2021/02/01/plasus21/
If you have any contacts or ideas whom I could include in asking for sponsoring, kindly let me know! When the lineup is finalized, I will also publish the information here.
Until then, please share this project fare and wide! You can use the social media buttons, for instance, or just talk about it in your next zoom meeting. I am of course also available to present it anytime.
This week on Thursday 11.2.2021, there are two talks where I participate: 16:00 CET with Moriba Jah and others, On the Role of Theology in Space Exploration and Sustainability: https://www.linkedin.com/events/spacecaf-moriba-svoxpopuli-036758405585852604416/
