Every penny counts - for longlife life !

Today, I want to tell you about my beloved cat Mila, who was recently diagnosed with an unknown brain tumor.

Mila just celebrated her 13th birthday on April 10th, and we’ve known her practically since birth. She’s our family member, accompanying us from being a couple to a family of four, along with her brother. In December 2022, her behavior began to change. She went outside less frequently and began to exhibit more circular pacing.

After unsuccessfully trying to find the cause with our vet, we went for a neurological examination when she got worse daily. An MRI was performed, which showed that Mila has an inoperable brain tumor.

We had only a few options: euthanasia, cortisone tablets, or possibly radiation. We opted for cortisone tablets, and fortunately, Mila has been doing much better since coming back home. She’s happy to be home and even ventures outside again. Unfortunately, with the cortisone tablets, she has a life expectancy of only about 2.5 months. Before it gets so bad again that we have to put her down.

As pet owners and cat lovers, we all know how difficult it is when our furry friends get sick. We want to provide Mila with the best possible care and give her the chance to continue living a happy life. After careful consideration with specialists, we decided to subject Mila to radiation to give her a better chance of a significantly longer life. However, the treatment is costly and lasts two weeks, with high costs for the necessary treatments.

Already, the current vet bills amount to several thousand.

Therefore, we have decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign to help Mila. Every contribution you can make would help give Mila the necessary treatment and improve her quality of life. Please help us save Mila’s life and give her the chance to have many happy years ahead.

I humbly ask for your help to give Mila the chance to lead a longer and happier life in her family. Every contribution counts and helps us finance the expensive procedure and give Mila the necessary treatment.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

Radiation therapy at the Animal Hospital Zurich

We contacted the oncology department of the animal hospital, and they confirmed that radiation therapy for Mila could not only extend her life but also provide valuable information for research. Each case is unique and offers new insights into the fight against brain tumors in animals. By providing Mila with the best possible treatment, we are also helping other animals in the future who are struggling with similar conditions. Your donation would not only help Mila but also contribute to the advancement of research in veterinary medicine and provide more insights into the fight against brain tumors.

You can find more information in the link. After discussing with the specialists, I can assure you that this significantly life-extending measure for Mila does not involve any pain or discomfort. The professional radiation therapy in Zurich is not comparable to human medicine, the animals will sleep very briefly, the radiation is much more targeted and less aggressive, which can only be better for Mila.

Thank you for your support!

I need support for this

We want to provide the highest level of transparency for how we use every franc.

Previous Costs:

CHF 550.- veterinary costs (blood test, general examination) - result without diagnosis. At the beginning of March, we treated Mila for 1 week with painkillers. CHF 2’300.- costs for emergency admission, general examination, MRI, discussion, and cortisone tablets (1’500.- already paid).

Subtotal: CHF 2’800.-

Radiation therapy CHF 6’700.-

Planning CT CHF 500.-: An additional planning CT is required for radiation therapy. Therapy planning CHF 600.-: This is followed by a 3-4 day therapy planning session, which is specifically tailored for Mila. Radiation treatment CHF 5’000.-: 10 radiation sessions are needed to specifically and maximally reduce the tumor. Care CHF 600.-: Mila will spend 10 days in the animal hospital and these costs will be incurred for her care. Mila is our beloved cat, and we want to contribute by setting aside our vacation money for her. Therefore, with the crowdfunding campaign, we want to cover at least half of the radiation therapy, or 1/3 of the total costs incurred.

If we receive more donations, it will be used directly for Mila and any additional costs incurred.
