My maternal grandparents lived in a Mureș county village (Șăușa) in the high hills of Transylvania and I spent every childhood vacation with them in the ’80s and early ’90s.

To bring architecture forward, one needs dreams and the power to fight for them. A society without dreams and ambition is simply dead.

In the context of Romania, how to build in the countryside should be an existential question. I therefore support this wonderful initiative.

Receive the Construction Newsletter about Garden House in Bărdești by mail, offering behind-the-scenes updates, photos, sketches, construction details and reflections from the building site and process. You will also receive a printed booklet documenting House at the Black Sea, one of our previous experimental projects, located in Corbu, Romania (nearing completion), and designed in collaboration with Swiss architect Raphael Zuber. It includes plans, details, photographs from the construction site, offering an insight into the design and building process. Enjoy a Two Night Stay
Spend two nights in the garden house once it’s ready. Enjoy a basket filled with locally produced treats such as cheese, jam and fresh vegetables while relaxing in nature and exploring the village life. A quiet retreat and a chance to connect with the story behind the project. Dates will be arranged after completion (spring to autumn, from autumn 2027). The price is per house, maximum 4 persons (2 double beds, one bathroom). Travel not included.

Hi! I am Laura Cristea, an architect currently based in Romania. The experience of working and teaching in Switzerland has deeply influenced my architectural understanding. Through the office I have co-founded, Pelinu Projects, but also through personal initiatives like this, my focus is on developing creative architecture offering qualitative, yet unexpected spaces.
