Built around a water well in a Transylvanian garden, this small rural retreat is a collaboration with my mother, a wish to create a new act of culture in an agrarian, traditional landscape.

Dear friends,

We promised to keep you updated: we are preparing the rewards, as well as developing the last version of the technical execution project.

Maybe few of you know the insights - the project was meant to be initially all in concrete, but as we were trying to cut costs, we decided to keep only the base and one structural wall in concrete, changing the upper structure to timber frame, but without losing the spatial qualities. Together with engineers we are revising this version to get ready for construction.

Also, within the next month we will start contacting you to settle delivery details, where the case. On your side, feel free to contact us for any inquiries at office@pelinuprojects.com.

Warmest regards,

Laura, Elena and the Pelinu team

Dear friends,

It has been an intense few weeks, but your contributions and support has truly impressed us. We are honoured and motivated to continue down the tough path of stubbornly building a culture we believe in, even if today architecture feels increasingly enslaved by finance, bureaucracy, ideology and artificially promoted lifestyles. Most of you are architects fighting these battles and your support for our initiative is even more so precious. We also have a very deep appreciation for those (many!) of you which are not architects, but anyhow chose to take time and effort to support our culture and built environment.

Together with you, we are hopeful to create a small but special place, an honest place, where our spatial imagination and skill can bring something new, but respectful, into an old forgotten place. The rural of Romania has so much potential that needs to be seen, understood and unlocked!

What is next? Well, more work :) Preparations for starting the construction site are the next step we will do. That means finishing last construction details, and the difficult task of finding a good local team of craftsmen that would join this adventure. If you know anyone, we are open at suggestions!

Rest assured, we will keep you updated about the next steps, as well as about your chosen rewards.

With profound gratitude, Laura, Elena and the Pelinu team

Dear friends,

First of all, a big thanks for all your contributions. We are also very excited to announce the collaboration with my friend Adina Filculescu from enRose Design, a passionate specialist on plants and gardens, to develop together the natural world around our small rural retreat - a place where we want to blend together culture and nature. We also hope to share our experiences in architecture and landscape through future workshops and events in this garden.

We thank her for boarding this journey and supporting us, and we wish all of you a blooming New Year!

The beginnings – Bărdesti in 2017, with my parents.

Dear friends,

Even if some of you are and will remain anonymous to us, we are deeply grateful for your support in the hardest part - the beginnings!

The thoughts about how hard it is to start something and take action made me look back - at the first photo I took in 2017 of this place, while my parents were gardening and my mind started to imagine things. Seven years later, my father is not with us anymore, but me and my mother want to continue cultivating more than vegetables here - creating a place of encounters, culture, architecture and nature.

As you might know, this is an all-or-nothing fundraising, so we encourage you to share further the news, as word-of-mouth is still a very powerful tool. We have also introduced today a meaningful reward - Plant-me-a-Tree! - for those who wish to become a living part of our garden.

Thank you again and Merry Christmas close to your loved ones, Laura, Elena and the Pelinu team
