Why is this so important?
Sleeping sickness, caused by the parasite Trypanosoma brucei, is a devastating disease affecting hundreds of thousands in African countries. Given the global climate change, there’s a concerning possibility it could reach our homeland, Switzerland.
A DNA sample with a unique gene!
Acquiring this DNA sample, containing the crucial gene from Trypanosoma brucei, enables us to conduct intensive research and develop promising therapies. These will be more targeted, effective, and safe.
