This is what it's all about.

Is it possible to merge dialect with Middle Eastern sounds? Can Pop, Techno, and World Music coexist? How can I visually combine digital and analog elements in performances? Can I write and sing in the St. Gallen dialect without making my open-ended lyrics sound trivial? How can I make the connection with the audience in the digital world more personal and less commercialized? Can I find refuge in music again after a two-year creative crisis during the pandemic? These are questions I aim to answer with my song cycle «Zueflucht.»

As a result of these inquiries and objectives, nine songs have been created, which I intend to press onto vinyl, and three of them to adapt into short film format. An album launch will serve as an initial milestone, concluding the production of the record, while the videos will visually complement the project, thereby bringing the work on the song cycle to a close.

My project is special because ...

I want to showcase the St. Gallen dialect in a new light: In music, it is mainly associated with lyric-heavy bands like Stahlberger or Dachs. Many musicians from St. Gallen avoid it by singing in English or standard German. It has a bad reputation, described as mundane, provincial, or backward by other Swiss regions. Yet, its softness is perfectly suited for singing. I want to demonstrate that our dialect doesn’t have to be trivial. You can express anger, sorrow, fulfillment, and mystique with it just as effectively as in other languages.

This is what I need backing for.

The recordings of my songs can only sound truly great thanks to sound engineer Michael Gallusser (QFLM-Studio, St. Gallen), who handled the mixing, and Dan Suter (echochamber, Zurich), responsible for the mastering. Additionally, the St. Gallen artist Rouven Stucki has created a beautiful cover. The work of these three individuals is not only outstanding but also comes with a cost that I, unfortunately, cannot cover on my own. I hope, with your support, to be able to offset a portion of these expenses.
