This is what it's all about.
STADTCHINDER is a short film about the growing up and life of four young adults from Zurich’s lower class. Mano leads us as the main character through the different realities of life. Since childhood he has been accompanied by his crutches due to a shortening of the tendons, which in the film are a metaphor for the hurdles he had to overcome. The film is about friendship, love, dreams, pain, despair and at the same time is meant to question and address social structures, even if only superficially. The five days of shooting will take place between July 10 and 17. My goal is to show the film at as many festivals as possible. I think it could have potential throughout Switzerland, as well as internationally, because it is a testimony of time and a milieu study at the same time and should convey an authentic image of the city of Zurich.
My project is special because ...
It’s my first major film project where I have a whole crew on board, wrote the script myself and will be directing. In addition, I’m not working with professional actors, but the characters in the film are played by the people who inspired them. So they play themselves, so to speak. I am very much looking forward to this collaboration. It is a film that is set in the city of Zurich and also involves the city as its own character. The focus is mainly on districts 3 and 4, but we also shoot in the outer districts like Altstetten and Schwamendingen. The film music is by local artists and is also part of the narration. One song example is by L Loko and Drini titled «Somewhere in Nowhere». Also featured are AKIRA, OG FLORIN and DVW (Dä Vo Wiedike).
This is what I need backing for.
As mentioned before, I need your support to feed my crew decently for five days of shooting and to pay for the now somewhat expensive gasoline and rental vehicle. I am very grateful for any support.
