This is what it's all about.

The CHOUK project draws its inspiration from everyday life in Evolène: its stories, traditions, and landscapes. Everything that makes the valley resonate has guided our creation.

After a first year full of emotions, CHOUK is taking a decisive step. Our ten original pieces in the Patois of Evolène, already tested on the stages of the Alpentöne Festival and CIME, are ready to be immortalized. On February 26, 2026, we will enter Roystone Studio to record this unique repertoire. But this is just the beginning: this album will be the engine that allows us to carry the voice of our heritage onto new stages.

CHOUK artists: Texts: Marlène Mauris Composition, vocals, and nyckelharpa: Lorène Quinodoz Vocals, guitar, and cajón: Eloïse Rong (Le Cercle de Lou) Oboe and vocals: Laurine Marmi Accordion: Théodore Monnet

From the very start, we claimed great freedom, both in writing and in musical composition. The texts by Marlène Mauris and the compositions by Lorène Quinodoz form a modern repertoire that deeply respects our heritage and traditional music. The project is thus firmly rooted in the present day.

My project is special because ...

The CHOUK project is more than an album – it is an act of transmission. By blending the Patois of Evolène with modern, lively compositions, we give this ancient language a new breath. From the schools of Val d’Hérens to curious ears across Switzerland and beyond, our hybrid format (booklet and digital via QR code) will allow everyone to embrace these unique sounds. Learn, sing, and above all, never forget.
