What it is about?
in 2009, Arianna Savall and Petter Udland Johansen founded the ensemble Hirundo Maris in Basel, specializing in early music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque, their own proper conversations and traditional music from the Mediterranean sea and Scandinavian. The creative main focus, the Mediterranean and Nordic music, was born from their far-reaching collaboration. Just like the swallow, which gives the ensemble its name, they find across the sea and music to common paths that have been connecting Scandinavia and the Iberian Peninsula since ancient times. Their new project, the Windrose, moves in all the direction of the Windrose, as the Windrose shows us. It is mainly music and poetry about the sea with its islands and fjords, but it is not just a description of the world you can see; there are also inner personal experiences, such as the winds blowing through life in many different directions. Hirundo Maris always tries with their projects to combine different cultures through music and poetry. In the Windrose, South is associated with the north and songs has been created, mainly from the early music. There will also be new compositions by Arianna Savall and Petter Udland Johansen, which will be performed for the first time in this CD. Part of the concert program also includes old folk songs arranged by Arianna Savall and Petter Udland Johansen for the Hirundo Maris ensemble
This is why I need support
The new album from us in Hirundo Maris, directed by Arianna Savall and Petter Udland Johansen, is being made for the German label Carpe-Diem Records. We have already recorded two albums on this label and now the third one is on the doorstep «The Wind Rose». The recording will take us five days and we will need your support because of the travel costs, hotel accommodation and anything else that such a production will cost.
