Why did we start this project?
Women United Basel is more than a «new basketball club». It is a shared promise to young and performance-oriented female players in Northwestern Switzerland. BC Arlesheim, taking the lead and reinforced by other clubs from the region, is engaged in a pilot project precisely for this purpose. We want to invest in performance-oriented youth teams within the framework of a competence center for girls’ and women’s basketball. In doing so, we aim not only to reach the top of Switzerland, but also to develop players and personalities who are ready to take on responsibility and demonstrate strength both on and off the court.
There is certainly no shortage of talent, nor of qualified coaches. The potential in the region is enormous, and the motivation of numerous volunteers is also present. Compared to other regions in Switzerland, we have many sports teams at the national level in Northwestern Switzerland. These already attract the attention of local, financially strong partners. Likewise, in Western and Southern Switzerland, where competitors have much higher budgets, we experience a structural disadvantage in youth development. The challenge therefore lies mainly in the financial area, where we strive for a solid and fair financial foundation.
With this crowdfunding, we are seeking support to help secure the framework conditions for this project and give our talented girls a fair chance to pursue their ambitions.

What makes our project «Women United Basel» so special?
We bring together girls who are ready to invest a large part of their free time in team sports and pursue ambitious goals. It is important to us that this invested time is optimally supported in every respect, whether on a sporting, mental, or physiological level.
It is also about supporting the girls in their development through their teenage years and celebrating successes with them. Unfortunately, it is also the case that some young girls drop out of sports in their early teenage years and lose sight of this important source of energy and sense of achievement. We want to counteract this and offer a real alternative for girls aged 12-17, in order to shape strong young women both on and off the sports field. These, in turn, should serve as role models for other girls and inspire them to pursue big goals.

This is what I need backing for.
We need your support to ensure a professional framework for our project. In the coaching area, we require additional specialized individuals for technology, athletic training, physical therapy, and strength training, and just as important for teenage girls is regular mental and nutrition coaching.
In addition, we need training aids to specifically develop skills. We require transportation and accommodations for games and international tournaments. There are also registration fees for tournaments and referees. Further costs include gym rental fees as well as updates to the basketball infrastructure. The development of the players also involves holding training camps with other Swiss teams, even across language barriers.
Furthermore, we need a uniform appearance at games and tournaments, meaning we need game uniforms, tracksuits, jackets, and bags. This, in turn, strengthens self-confidence and team spirit.
Last but not least, we want to modernize our online presence in order to reach our target audience and potential sponsors in a contemporary way.
We want to finance our goals in stages: 1st stage: Essentially, to maintain the foundation/coaching staff for U16N, so that we can continue sports operations next season. 2nd stage: Development and expansion of additional teams (U14, U18) plus equipment and tournaments. 3rd stage: Expansion of comprehensive, integrated support (mental, nutrition, physical therapy) for the teams. Professionalization of sponsor acquisition.
The funding goal is CHF 10,000 for each of the 3 stages, in total CHF 30,000.
The amount (and maybe/hopefully even a surplus) will benefit only the project and the girls. We even have more ideas in the pipeline.
