A satellite tag for science

This is what it's all about.

The sea devil rays, majestic inhabitants of the Mediterranean depths, are now in danger of extinction. With few studies conducted and threats such as bycatch, pollution and poaching, their survival depends on our ability to better understand their essential movements and habitats.

As the creator of OceansGuardian, I am launching this campaign to finance the purchase of a satellite beacon, which will be delivered directly to Ailerons, an association specialising in the conservation of sharks and rays in the Mediterranean, which has been studying sea devils for over 15 years. In collaboration with the Geneva Ocean Academy (GOA), this beacon will deepen scientific knowledge about this endangered species and guide conservation policies.

Each tag costs 5’400 CHF, but to offset the platform fees (6% commission + 4% transaction fee), we must collect 6’000 CHF so that the entire amount is available. Each donation will only be used to purchase the beacon and support scientific research.

👉 If the goal is exceeded, the additional funds will be used to finance a second beacon, thus further enhancing the impact of this mission!

All contributors will receive updates on the mission and discoveries from the beacons.

My project is special because ...

This project is unique because it combines science, action and personal commitment. Unlike many initiatives, it is not limited to raising awareness: it provides concrete scientific support for an endangered species in the Mediterranean.

By funding this satellite tag, we are enabling researchers to track devil’s rays in their natural environment, a rare opportunity that will provide valuable data for their protection. In addition, I will be present this summer on one of the research weeks, alongside the Ailerons scientists, to observe their field work and share these discoveries with you.
