A heater for the Urban Sketcher's home

The Bildraum Miravalle in Intragna (Ticino, Centovalli) is a meeting place for sketchers and everyone who loves sketching, the quiet and attention to detail. Everyone is welcome who would like to maintain an exchange and make contacts, who would like to get to know and exchange new techniques, experiences and perspectives. Drawing and sketching makes visible, calms you down and concentrates. The graphic documentation and dealing with life and the place where you are leads to a calming down from the hectic everyday life, a great attention and care. Our house is the starting point for these explorations. A heater for the house makes it possible to work and meet in the house in all seasons. Intragna’s wood chip heating system is a visionary project for the small community. We would like to connect our house. The total amount of the heating is about Fr. 48’000.-.

The place that inspires people and encounters

The starting for setting up a meeting place for sketchers was given several years ago with the first meetings in Sta Maria in the Münstertal, the Urban Sketcher symposium in Zuoz and two years ago with the purchase of the Casa Miravalle in Intragna. Since then, the open drawing days, meetings and course weeks have been very popular. The house is now called Bildraum Miravalle. In addition to the four bedrooms with six beds, the large cantina, which serves as a kitchen, course room and living room, it houses a small negozio, which became a gallery and course room, as well as a large attic floor, which is used as a studio and also as a course room can. The house is founded, managed and looked after by Eva Iselin and Mario Leimbacher. We have gained experience as handicraft and drawing teachers, as course leaders for young people, in workshops for disabled people, as artists and also as gallery owners. Experiences in restaurants, courses and cultural centers have also shown us that we would like to do this and pass it on.

For this we need your support

The character and substance of the house are cared for wherever possible and restored or renewed with simple means. We use ecologically valuable and sustainable materials for renovations and installations. For example, the insulation consists of wood or hemp fibers. A new floor was created with larch wood from the region. We obtain second-hand equipment and furniture (usegain) and thus create a sustainable, lively ambience. The wemakeit project enables the financing of the heating. The Bildraum Miravalle can thus become a place of work and a meeting place all year round for people who are enthusiastic about sketching and those who are looking for a creative and relaxing place.
