«Bye Bye Basilisk!» is a unique production for theatre lovers of all ages with an interest in Basel. It is aimed especially at families with children ages six or older, as well as older students studying either German or English in school. Multiple performances are scheduled for the public at the Arlecchino in November, 2025, as well as exclusively for school classes on week-days. The play is loosely based on the book «Basel’s Hidden Stories,» (written by Jeanne Darling and published by Bergli, 2017). The play tells the story of three travelers who find themselves in Basel. These travelers recreate three famous Basel legends involving ghosts and the famous Basilisk of Basel. They learn that fear of the unknown can be conquered using bravery and wit. This inspiring and uniquely entertaining production will be directed by Miriam Cohn with professional actors from the local Basel acting scene.

Betwixt & Between Theater, based in Basel, produces bilingual theater projects. Their successful run of «Hansel & Gretel» in 2019-2020 was enthusiastically received. The aim of the bilingual plays is to expose children to English, German, and Swiss German in a joyful and entertaining way by weaving the languages through an engaging story – a goal that is worth supporting especially in a city like Basel with its numerous private bi-lingual programs, as well as its English language objectives in the local schools.

Theater productions costs money! While we are adepts at coming up with costumes and props on a budget, some costs are non-negotiable. This includes rent, salaries and fees for advertising. These costs can’t be covered by ticket sales only, especially as we want to keep rates affordable for everyone.We are extremely grateful that we have received some funding by such renowned organizations such as Sulger Stiftung and Migros Kulturprozent and deeply appreciate their trust in our project. However, we still lack funding to meet all production costs.
