The crowdfunding campaign on wemakeit.com «Cabo Verde & Friends!» is finisched. On behalf of the whole Team Djunta Mon we would like to thank you for the donations. We have reached our goal and collected more than twice as much as originally planned. Thanks to YOUR support we were able to buy 250 survival packages in a first step. With the additional amount we can provide for more survival packages and support even more people. We will report about the distribution via Djunta Mon’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/djuntamon/). For those who do not have a Facebook account, we will inform directly on the website of o Ritmo GmbH (https://oritmo.ch/ueber-uns/projekte/).

On the Cape Verde Islands, the number of positively tested corona cases is increasing and the situation is becoming more acute. As of 19.04.20, 61 positively tested persons are reported, 51 more than a week ago. These are distributed over the islands of Boa Vista, Santiago and Sao Vicente. We fear that these cases will not remain and that the numbers will increase.

We are in daily contact with Alveno Soares so that he can tell us about the current situation on the spot. Alveno is concerned and despite the distribution of donations, countless people are still lacking the most basic necessities, especially in the remote rural areas on the island of Santo Antao. Making a choice about who will be provided with a survival kit and who will not is a terribly difficult decision. Our goal is that no one who is in urgent need of help is left out!

The team of Djunta Mon would like to continue its work and we are still looking for friends of solidarity for the Cape Verde Islands. All developments of the project «Cabo Verde & Friends!» are also continuously documented on the Facebook page of Djunta Mon and on the website of o Ritmo GmbH.

Gleichzeitig ist es ein Aufruf von ihm und von Freunden der Kapverden weltweit, weiterhin zusammenzustehen und Solidarität zu zeigen. Unsere Kampagne läuft noch 3 Tage, das Ziel sind 8’000 Euro. Wir sind froh um jede Form von Unterstützung. Unser Ziel ist, das niemand der Hilfe braucht, aussen vorgelassen wird!

Dear donors We are happy to forward the thanks of our local partner Alveno Soares and also we would like to thank you once again for the donations. At the same time it is an appeal from him and friends of Cape Verde worldwide to continue to stand together and show solidarity. Our campaign is still running for 3 days, the goal is 8’000 Euro. We are happy for any form of support. Our goal is that nobody who needs help will be left behind!

Thanks to your valuable donations we were able to purchase and distribute the survival kits with the first donations. The contents were calculated and compiled with the help of a nutritionist. The packages contain: 5 kilos of rice, 1 kilo of sugar, 1 kilo of salt, 0.5 kilo of onions and garlic, 1 litre of oil, 0.5 kilos of biscuits, 0.5 kilos of powdered milk, 0.5 kilos of pasta, 2 kilos of beans, as well as 1 litre of detergent, 0.5 litres of washing-up liquid and 1 soap. One package is enough for a family of 5-6 people for about 1 week.

The packages go to needy people with families who are day labourers and cannot work due to the curfew. Also considered are elderly people and people with a chronic illness.

Thanks to you, your livelihood is guaranteed for one week in the time of the emergency!

Thanks to a generous discount from the local distributor Bento A. Lima Lda. we were able to arrange even 250 survival kits instead of 150 as planned!

With the help of local neighborhood associations and projects, these are being currently distributed on the island of São Vicente since April 7th and until tomorrow Saturday, April 11th.

Tomorrow, Saturday 11th April, the ferry with 120 survival kits will leave for the neighbouring island of Santo Antão, where we will receive support from the Red Cross and they will take over the distribution.

We would like to express our gratitude! We continue to collect and hope to support the affected families in this time of emergency for another week and to expand our field of action. To achieve this, we are dependent on more donations. Our goal is EUR 8’000 or more! We would like to thank everyone for their support, be it in the form of donations or by helping to make our campaign known.
