This is what it's all about.
The organization provides lunch for 57 children whose parents work in the quarry. The well water is not drinkable. Donations are used for food, the cook, and a water filter for the well. A monthly salary can be around 50 €, and 5 liters of water cost 10 €.
Additionally, you are warmly invited to a Sierra Leonean evening at the Labüsch Bar, Zur Kesselschmiede 27, 8400 Winterthur. There you will be treated to traditional food, drinks, and music. During the evening, the project will be presented in detail, followed by an iron art auction.
The event starts on November 22, 2025, at 5:00 PM with a welcome drink from Sierra Leone. Come spontaneously or reserve your seat by registering at: noemi@labuesch.com.
My project is special because ...
What makes this project special is that Rebekka Ehret founded it single-handedly and leads it with great personal commitment by using her pension funds. The association «Kadiatu’s Legacy» is named after the late mother of a boy involved in the project. On-site, a cook lovingly ensures that every child in need is welcome, regardless of registration. Thus, the project combines personal dedication with direct, sustainable help for the children in the community.
This is what I need backing for.
About 1,000 Swiss francs are needed each month to provide food and water for all 57 children and to pay the cook a fair salary – the cost of a water filter is not yet included. Each month, the project purchases 5 sacks of rice, 1 sack of onions, 1 sack of fish, as well as oil, and also covers transport costs. The goal of the project is to cover the monthly food expenses and the cook’s salary. Additionally, funds are being raised to install a water filter, which costs around 1,000 Swiss francs, so that the children can drink clean, running water instead of having to buy expensive plastic bags of water, which are then burned and cause environmental pollution.
