Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne

La Poésie du Printemps follows the sold-out success of the first edition of the Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne, La Sérénade des Saisons in September 2020, combining the best of wine, food and music to create a cultural event unique in Switzerland. The experience of the Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne is a long-lasting one with a magnificent program around the theme of renewal and spring. In the spotlight, the soprano Teodora Gheorghiu, star of the Vienna State Opera, who will perform Richard Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder under the direction of Maestro John Axelrod. Other works on the program include Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l’après midi d’un faune, and Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, which will end with Johann Strauss II’s Wein, Weib und Gesang, performed by the International Orchestra of Geneva under the baton of Maestro John Axelrod. The concert will be accompanied by poetry readings of works by Stéphane Mallarmé, Hart Crane, Hermann Hesse, and Joseph von Eichendorff, and culinary delights from the exquisite award-winning cuisine of chef Mathieu Bruno, and a wine tasting offered by the Municipality of Chardonne. The floral decoration of the stage will once again be entrusted to Cathy Hermann of Coeur d’Artichaut.

On the theme of rebirth, revival and post-coronavirus resurrection, Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne, in partnership with CultureALL Association, also offers the opportunity to the underprivileged families of the municipality of Chardonne-Mt. Pélerin to attend a free dress rehearsal of La Poésie du Printemps on June 12, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Grande Salle de Chardonne, 67 Rue du Village. A water and juice dégustation tasting for the children organized and sponsored by the CultureALL Association will be proposed, followed by the dress rehearsal.

Greetings, Hello, Grüezi, and Buongiorno,

Let me tell you why I think we deserve your continued support. But first, for those of you who have not yet contributed to the Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne let me give you some background information. Despite the limitations of covid-19 restrictions, the 1st Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne, on September 26, 2020, at the Grande Salle de Chardonne and at the Restaurant Là Haut, were a complete success. Our WeMakeIt crowdfunding campaign was fully funded. World-class violinist Alexandra Conunova was the soloist. The International Orchestra of Geneva played brilliantly. Mathieu Bruno from Restaurant Là Haut provided the culinary talent and Jean Luc Ducret from Le Parrain vineyard provided the wines.

The date of the next Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne is confirmed for June 12, 2021. The wines are provided by the municipality of Chardonne. The «star» of the Vienna State Opera and resident of the canton of Vaud, Teodora Gheorghiu, will sing Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs. Maestro John Axelrod will also conduct the International Orchestra of Geneva in Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, the original version of Copland’s Appalachian Spring, and Johann Strauss II’s Wine, Woman and Song. At the Grande Salle de Chardonne, guests will be able to enjoy a Chardonne wine tasting offered by the Municipality,

We are asking for your support to help us reach our goal of CHF 10,000 to cover the costs of this event, which also includes live broadcasting. It is important to recognize that this culinary concert series has the potential to become a regular bi-annual event in the spring and fall.

It is an exceptional project that requires priority support for its continuation. The budget for the Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne had already been impacted in September by limiting attendance to only 40% of capacity. Unfortunately, the program planned for December 2020 has been cancelled due to worsening coronavirus conditions. With this cancellation, the risk of cancelling future events has increased. This June 12, 2021, is the most critical period for the continuation of this much appreciated and acclaimed experience in the heart of the Lavaux region. It is for this reason that we ask for your support.

The Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne are the only event of its kind in the region of Lavaux, Vevey and the Riviera, and perhaps in the whole of Switzerland. It has a unique character in the artistic and thematic connection between wine, food and music. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.

Everyone is hungry for culture, art, music, food and wine, especially after the coronavirus closes. Many festivals may have been cancelled, but unique events that meet the necessary high quality and sanitary standards are in demand. The Concerts Culinaires de Chardonne can help. We welcome you to these Culinary Concerts in compliance with the health regulations in force for the safety of us all.

In the Grande Salle of Chardonne, for only 200 participants, we will present on June 12, 2021 : The Poetry of Spring.
