In the context of a residency at Kunst im Depot, I am realising a short dance film, in which I am creating a dialogue between dance and other arts, showing intersections between them.

This is what it's all about.

A dialogue is an ongoing interaction, which evolves and changes with every word and idea that is being said. I want to create a dialogue between different artforms. I want to show, that new things can evolve when artists get inspired by each others and respond to each other’s inspiration. And I want to make it visible by filming it.

I have been granted a working space at the Kunst im Depot in Winterthur from 6th to 12th of August 2018. In this time I want to realise a short dance film, in which I will interact with different other artists and their artforms.

In practice, this means I am going to have talks with the artists in residence at the Kunst im Depot, I will look at their creations and how they work. Then, I will respond to what I see or hear with dance improvisation and thus, start a dialogue. The artists themselves decide in which form and if at all they want to react to this.

The product is a film of approx, 10 minutes. It will feature the talks I have with the artists, the improvised dance dialogues and some recording of works by the artists and the surrounding of the Depot.

The film is going to be screened at a private venue sometime in autumn. If you are interested to see the film, please leave me a message. I will contact you when I know the location and date.

My project is special because ...

I want to push boundaries of dance. I want to open the barriers and let other artforms enter my dancing. I want to create a new intersection between the artforms, where they develop a dialogue. I want to show that artists should not just coexist, but also work together to find new ways of expression. This film is an attempt to go into this direction.

This is what I need backing for.

I need to pay the person who films me and also the equipment. For that, I budgeted 30 hours of work (filming and editing) for 20 CHF/hour and another 200 CHF for the equipment. This will cost 800 Swiss Francs. Furthermore, I need another 200 CHF for costume, travel and the screening of the movie.
