Debut CD of Trio Eclipse
We have been waiting for this moment for more than one year, and now the time has come to make our debut CD in coproduction with SRF (Schweizer Radio und Fernseher) this October in Zürich. We are really proud and happy about this collaboration, and we have the opportunity to present unique pieces to our audience.
We will have pieces on the CD which have never been recorded before!
Our idea was very unconventional with the programming. Instead of pieces which are often played, we desired to broaden our repertoire and decided that our program should feature works which had been rarely or had never been recorded before.
The atmosphere of the CD is gravitating more towards jazzy and lighter elements, although the pieces are challenging both instrumentally and musically. On the CD, there are two original works, and the only two which were recorded in this setting. First is by Nino Rota. He is famous for his film music, and many of Fellini’s movies feature his compositions. Second is by Daniel Schnyder, Swiss saxophone player who has been living in New York for many years. His piece (Friday Night in August) was inspired by the different sounds and music, which he heard in the Central Park.
We decided to program on our first CD a grandiose and fascinating work by George Gershwin, which is called «An American in Paris». The piece is originally composed for orchestra, but Stefan Schröter did a wonderful job arranging the piece for our trio, keeping its monumentality.
We also asked three composers, Thomas Demenga, Simon Heggendorn, Sean Hickey, to write us on-one pieces. They are all unique on their own. Demenga’s piece (Summer breeze) is very rhythmical and playful. Sean’s (Tiergarten) was inspired by Berlin on a foggy morning, and Heggendorn’s (Siena) is more towards Latin-style music.
We would be grateful and very happy if you could support us and our unique project and help us take a step further in our carrier. Thanks a lot!
Help us to make the big next step in our carrier!
Our trio members are from Switzerland (Lionel, Sebastian) and Hungary (Benedek), first met during our studies at the Musikakademie in Basel. Individually, we have been, and continue to be, awarded various noteworthy prizes in solo competitions. And yet our combined passion and long-held devotion to chamber music have always been a significant part of our developing career and is now truly bearing fruit.
Our trio’s interpretation is characterized by the homogeneity of timbre and texture in the interplay of each instrument’s particular sound. This unique and refreshing combination of colors makes the ensemble especially compelling and attractive. Spontaneity, individual imagination and the singular way have come together and have become the real strong point of the group. In other words, the trio aspires to find the perfect balance between soloist freedom and imagination, and unity of interpretation.
Since its establishment, Trio Eclipse has performed at the Adelboden Swiss Chamber Music Festival, the Lausanne Label Suisse Festival, and the Andermatt Klassik Osterfestival and was invited to perform live in studio with France Musique in Paris, Espace 2 and radio SRF in Switzerland. In addition to their international concert activity, the trio is prizewinner of the «Orpheus, Swiss Chamber Music Competition» 2016, the International Chamber Music Competition Osaka 2017, and the Migros Kulturprozent Competition 2019, which will support the group in its roster for the next three years. The Trio Eclipse played its debut concert at the Lucerne Festival in summer 2019.
