My name is Kairat Birimkulov, a film producer and journalist with Central Asian roots. As a journalist, I criticised authoritarian regimes and had to leave Kyrgyzstan in 2007 after an assassination attempt. Today, through cinema, I stand for human rights, social justice, gender issues and cultural dialogue, making forgotten voices from Central Asia visible internationally.
