Dear backers,

We had our first rehearsal for the ESC tower music on monday, and I’m happy to say the hard work of the arrangers is paying off; when actually played by the amateur brass players, the quality of the arrangements become truly apparent. Of course, it also helps that we have wonderful dedicated musicians who come well prepared for rehearsals! This is going to be great.

At this point, I would like to ask those of you who have requested rewards, to make sure your address and personal information on wemakeit is up to date, so that the rewards find their way to you without problems. So please log in and check right now (deadline May 6th), then it’s over with and you can look forward to your reward in the mail!

All the best, Phillip

Crowdfunding successfully completed!By turmbasler, on 11/04/2025

Last Sunday our crowdfunding was concluded as a success, with 3600 Fr gathered! Another huge thank you to all you wonderful people who helped us realize this!!!

Also thanks to Radio Basilisk, who featured our campaign in the end stretch: https://www.basilisk.ch/p/ESC-Hits-mit-der-Posaune-Aber-klar-doch-0Vn47NR0Acyf8scqMbNsZM

What happens now?

Parallel with the crowdfunding, arrangements have been collected, revised, and revised again; the booklet is coming together, texts being written. We aim to send the rewards to those who wanted them in time before Eurovision. In short; all preparations are being made, and the performance is happening and can be heard from Münsterplatz Basel 17. May at 17:00.

What will we get to hear?

The songs will remain a secret for now, but you can start guessing based on the countries they represent! Alphabetically: Germany, Israel, Luxemburg, Moldova, Switzerland and UK. The six arrangements also represent different decades, so everyone should be able to recognise something. Also the arrangers represent different Eurovision countries:

Alexander Paine (Australia); Leonard Schick (Switzerland); Adam Bregman (France/USA); Doron Schleifer (Israel); Des McNutty (UK); Phillip Boyle (Norway).

The arrangers are musicians from different instruments, and are all specialists in the field of renaissance and baroque music. Most of them are also secretly Eurovision fans…!

What do I do now?

–If you haven’t already, follow Stadtposaunenchor on Instagram and/or Facebook to get more updates and details on the project and our other busy tower music activity. @turmbasler

–Put the Vesperblasen 17. May 17:00 at Münsterplatz in your calendar! (Plan your trip to Basel if necessary) ;-)

–Patiently await your reward, if you requested one

How does the math check out?

I want to be transparent, so here’s a breakdown. I had previously forgotten that wemakeit takes a 10% cut, but it still checks out:

Gathered from our 43 wonderful backers: 3600,-

minus 10% (360,-) for wemakeit: 3240,-

5 Arrangements for 4-5 parts: 550,- x 5 = 2750,-

1 Arrangement for 2-3 parts: 500,- x 1 = 500,-

Total, all arrangements: 3250,-

Left: 10,- (subtracted from my own arrangement)

Goal no. 2 reached!By turmbasler, on 14/03/2025

Thank you so much to all our 30 (and counting) backers who brought us to goal number 2 just in time for the one-week anniversary of our crowdfunding!

Everything is developing simultaneously now: Funding, hiring, arranging, programming and planning. Since last time, another arranger has delivered a new draft. This means we have five arrangers ready, and with these positive results, a sixth one can be hired.

As the programme starts to take shape, costs and timing has been calculated, and a new and slightly more ambitious goal than planned has been set: For 3750 Fr, we can fully cover five four-part chorals and two duos or trios to lighten up and give some variation to the programme!

4-part chorals = 550,- x 5 = 2750,- Duos or trios = 500,- x 2 = 1000,- Total = 3750,-

Of course, if we «only» reach the originally intended goal of 3300,- we’ll still be able to put together a solid programme! In any case, we’re optimistic and hoping that more people will still be interested in our project as we reach for stretch goal no. 3!

Thanks to our 8 lightning-fast first backers, we have alerady achieved the goal of 1100,- (2 arrangements) within 24 hours! Thank you so much!

Please keep donating though, because the second goal (2200,-/4 arrangements) has now been set up, and in the end, we hope to get six arrangements!
