Fallow- Short film
Fallow is a short film exploring different themes following the death of a loved one on two plains: familial and as mentor. It opposes Romi and Arthur, two people brought together by one loss and their different ways of grieving for them: detachment/resentment and loyalty. I want this film to hit the film festival circuit and make people feel.
I am a Swiss filmmaker and actor looking to share stories made with heart and passion from my home country. Known for its cheese and expensive watches I want to show that there is more to it than meets the eye. Having left the countryside myself to go to the city far far away, I find that horses always remind me exactly where home is. Which is why this first film at home had to include them. It is important to me for this first project, to hire people that understand what it means leaving to accomplish your dreams, people who can travel the world but still think ’Where are my mountains?’. It may seem small but no amount of travel ever beat the feeling I get when the plane lands and my heart beats out of my chest desperate for the first breath of fresh air. I want to make people remember a place where they too felt like that. Where they can escape and through pain or joy, find their two feet on the floor and feel at home.
Living experience
This project is special to me because death is something that happens to all and we all must face. But what of the complicated parts? Dealing with the material, all the small things and habits that person leaves in their wake? What about potential wounds or emptiness they leave behind? Were do we send all the feelings and connections we had for that person when they are no more?
This is what I need backing for.
The money will go to the actors and the crew, to pay them for their time and their talent. It will go into feeding them and hiring the missing equipment. Some of it will go to horse care and some film festival inscriptions.
