We hand-make drinking glasses out of empty bottles which have been thrown away in recycle and thrash bins. Then, we add cool and beautiful designs through screen printing.

This is how all started

The idea of Glask was born more than two years ago, with the intention of creating a different and cool product, which at the same time takes care of the environment. It took us a lot of work and learning to be able to finally start, 7 months ago, when we went out into the market with our glasses.

We are a married couple from Chile and Spain, who have been living in Switzerland for almost 4 years. We are raising our two children here and we love the country, and that is why we decided we wanted to start something meaningful, entertaining and original.

What we want now is for Glask to be at people’s tables, to talk about what’s going on, what excites and entertains us. We want our glasses to bring a lot of smiles and contribute to an interesting conversation.

Why Glask

Why use upcycled glasses instead of regular glasses? Isn’t it easier to buy cheap ones in a store?

Here we’ll tell you why you’ll love owning a set of our glasses: Because they are very cool! Yes! They are eco-friendly, they have cool designs and you will have an interesting topic of conversation with your guests. Each of them has been carefully handmade, so they can become your favorite glasses. They were made in Switzerland , with wine bottles taken from the country’s thrash bins.

Glass is one of the finest materials in the world. It can be recycled almost forever, without losing its quality. However, the amount of energy used to recycle glass (breaking it, melting it, and making new glass) is enormously greater than that used to cut, sand, and polish your Glasks (that means: upcycling it).

This is what I need backing for

Starting has been a difficult process: Until now, we have used our own savings, which have allowed us to buy a few tools, little by little. However, we are aware that we could be saving much more glasses from the recycle and thrash bins if we had the appropriate equipment, and that’s what we want to invest in, with your help.

To start this process, we really need a screen printing machine to make the production more efficient. The one we have had been with us all this time, but its margin or mistake is huge, so we end up wasting ink, which is contradictory with what we want to achieve: lowering waste as much as possible, and bring to the Swiss market a sustainable product.

We are very happy and hopeful of the process we are starting with Wemake it, and would love to share our gratitude to all of our collaborators on our Instagram page, and share with them a few of our collections.
