Even before the right to free movement or to emigrate, we should think about the right to lead a peaceful life at home, without being forced to leave our own land.

The right to move, not the obligation to emigrate!

Development: youth, education/awareness. Only by working at the root of the problem, with young people and their awareness, can we avoid the risk of having to face wild and dangerous migrations in the decades to come and above all a depletion of human resources in the developing countries. Young people dream of Eldorado from an early age. «I want to change my life» wants to encourage young Senegalese to actively contribute to the development of their country. The project aims to bring out among young women and men, potential candidates for migration, a positive vision of their future in their own country, where the desire, the need and ultimately the decision to emigrate arises. This involves, among other things, equipping these young people with a better knowledge of the issues of migration and changing their conceptions concerning their role and their future in their own country, while reducing the impact of the phenomenon of «flight of brains».

Tools and media suitable for young people!

We are going to apply an interactive methodology that has proven itself in our previous projects. Young people, through their smartphones, tablets, PCs or face-to-face during workshops (in secondary schools and universities), will have the opportunity to discover examples of entrepreneurial success and also proposals for opportunities to realize themselves and find a job. We are going to create a real and virtual Forum, a place for discussion and reflection, where young people will be able to dialogue and compare their reactions with the public institutions and entrepreneurs associated with the project. This youth will be ready to take up the challenge, to commit and invest in their own country, only if they see a future there.

Thanks to you a sustainable process!

Your support will be used to carry out phase 1 (6 months) and part of phase 2 (18 months) of the project. First the production of audiovisual material with examples of entrepreneurial success and proposals for opportunities to develop and find a job. This material will be used in the discussion workshops and on the interactive platform on which all the young people will be able to connect and confront each other by leaving their comments/opinions. In Phase 3 (6 months or more) we move the discussion forum to the 9 regions of SENEGAL where our partner (PWAS) is present with an interactive, participatory and evolving exhibition: «I Want/I Can Change My Life» will allow young people from isolated regions (notably from the network) to access our workshops and develop confidence and a more positive attitude about their place and role in their country. Working groups will be set up with young volunteers identified by the local partner PWAS. Direct participation in the field will allow these young people to familiarize themselves with the methodology. These young people who will actively collaborate in the advancement of the project, will be able to bring their ideas and their contribution; this will facilitate understanding and penetration among their peers. In the future, they can repeat this experience with other people and apply the «tool» to other themes and problems concerning their country.
