The bulk concept is as simple as it gets: come with your own containers (jar, bottles, cloth bags, any recipient basically) and fill them according to your own needs. You only buy what you really need saving money and helping the environment out. On top of that by bypassing packaging you join the zero waste movement!

Our project was inspired by our meeting with Béa Johnson during her conference in Yverdon-les-Bains. She reinforced our idea to create a sustainable grocery store and encouraged us to make our containers in wood and glass.

For several months now we have been seeking out the best local producers to create relationships based on trust and guarantee the quality of our products. At the same time we are striving to offer a large range of products at fair prices.

We offer over 100 products:

  • Food: flours, sugars, cereals, vinegars, oils, teas, mustards, dried fruits, coffee, pasta, spices…
  • Cleaning: laundry, detergent, black soap, dishwashing soap,…
  • Care: soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, menstrual cups, beauty products…

Our commitment to the zero waste movement does not stop with our products. Our containers and furniture are manufactured in our house or found in flea markets. We have replaced the bins and silos usually made of plexiglass with solid wood, glass or ceramics as much as possible.

We are not simply creating a sustainable grocery store but are creating a unique convivial space that will transport you back to the old days.

Meet the team:

Anne and Vincent have been running one of Yverdon-les-Bains’ iconic establishments «l’Intemporel Café» since 1997. Today, twenty years later, with their spouses Nano and Sandrine onboard they have taken up the challenge of launching a one of a kind bulk grocery store. The team is completed by Simon an innovating inventor, Florine a licensed dietician and Zero Waste advocate, Aude an unbeatable ceramist and finally Coline our communication guru.

We also thank Mathieu, Florias, Pauline and Caroline as well as all the other people who have helped us along the way. None of this would have been possible without you !

Why should you join our journey?

L’Épicerie Vrac allows each one of us to become a Consum’actor. Not only can you reduce your waste but you also send a clear message to supermarkets, industry, and government that things need to change. By offering an alternative market place that rejects wasteful practicers and over consumption you will be helping small produces from near and far to join our movement.

Your financial contribution will allow us to create our custom-made containers and furniture out of recyclable raw materials. It will also help us renovate the premises and purchase the initial stocks.

Buying in bulk is a concrete action for our beautiful planet.

The Rewards

To thank you for your support various rewards are awaiting our backers. You will be able to pick them up at one of your visits to the grocery store.

Most importantly though you are all welcome to the inauguration of «L’Épicerie Vrac Yverdon». Join us in the start of this beautiful adventure!
