HEY! HI!
We are Luca and Andrea, MAKE PLAIN. We come from the south of Switzerland, from Ticino. Our musical journey began in January 2012 with a simple idea: to play music that is direct, instinctive and honest. Over time, our sound has taken shape around folk, blues and rock’n’roll influences, becoming something truly our own.
There are two of us on stage, yet we aim to create a wide and dynamic sound: harmonicas, guitars, drums, synth bass and piano — both of us singing. This setup has allowed us to perform in a wide range of contexts, adapting to small and large stages without losing our identity.
Over the years, we have played more than 600 concerts across Europe. In February 2019, we joined the German Innocence tour, opening for the South African band Prime Circle. In February 2020, we set off on our Folk & Rollin’ Tour, taking us from Spain to South America. We began in Barcelona with two nights at the iconic Sala Apolo, opening for No Te Va Gustar, before heading overseas to Bogotá, Pereira, Medellín and Mexico City.
In the past two years, we have worked intensively on our album Rust Mud Dust, in collaboration with Lucky Tiger Records, recording 13 tracks at Power Play Studios in Maur (ZH). On June 1st, we presented the album live for the first time at the Auditorio Stelio Molo of RSI — a milestone marking a new phase of our journey.
Today, we feel the need to keep growing, to set out again and to engage with new realities. This project stems from that very urge: to take our music a step further without losing what brought us here.
THE PROJECT
At the heart of the project is a journey to Nashville — a place that, for us, represents far more than a destination. It is a symbol of folk, country and rock, but above all a place where music is lived as a daily craft, shaped by writing, exchange and collaboration.
Going to Nashville means stepping into an environment where songs are constantly tested. We want to record new material, meet musicians, producers and songwriters, observe how songs are shaped in that context, and understand what we can learn from it.
We are not looking for easy validation or shortcuts. We are interested in exchange — even when it is challenging. We want to understand what works in our music outside our comfort zone, and what needs to be reconsidered. What comes out of this experience will not be a final destination, but a meaningful step forward.
THIS IS WHAT WE NEED BACKING FOR
A journey like this takes more than a suitcase and a good playlist. It requires time, energy, travel, and entire days devoted to writing and production — all of which comes at a real cost. We are already covering a significant part of these expenses ourselves.
