How do you like your coffee?
Okapi Café will be a speciality coffee shop in Neuchâtel, Switzerland where we will serve our lovely fresh roasted coffee, as well as delicious breakfasts, lunches and cakes home made with locally sourced produce.
We love knowing where our coffee beans are from and that they are sourced in a socially responsible and ethical manner. We also love that our coffee is roasted locally in small batches to ensure quality and freshness. Last but not least, we love that it is prepared by hand with care and served with a smile by people who really love what they do.

Who are we?
Okapi Coffee was founded in 2016 by long time friends and coffee aficionados Sophia and Kieren. Having watched the growth of the speciality coffee industry in London, Cape Town, New York and other hubs, we had many a discussion over a nice coffee or bottle of wine about how to bring speciality coffee to our adopted hometown of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. A number of coffees, discussions, and bottles of wine later, Okapi Coffee was born.
Our aim is to source, roast and brew a really good cup of coffee. Both founders have a particular affinity for the wonderful African continent, leading to a focus on African green beans. We won’t limit our choices to Africa and will source high-quality speciality beans from coffee farms worldwide.
We aim to source all of our coffee beans, and other products, from socially responsible producers, to be sure that our impact on the world is positive from day one. To this end, we donate a percentage of profits to selected charities dedicated to furthering community projects in coffee growing areas.
We roast in small premises in Auvernier, Switzerland and currently offer subscription or one-off sales of our delicious coffee through our website. We hope, with the help of our wemakeit crowdfunding campaign, to open a coffee shop in Neuchâtel towards the end of 2017.
Why we need your help?
We have secured a space in the center of Neuchatel, and have poured our heart, soul, and savings into making the project happen. Funds raised through our crowdfunding campaign would be used to supplement our current personal investments to fit out the shop.
Funds will be spent on:
- A commercial coffee machine
- Furniture and fittings
- Kitchen equipment (fridges, stoves, dishwashers etc.)
