From a Coffee and an Idea to the Birth of Tails Academy
Fancy a coffee? My name is Brian (aka Red Penguin), and I have an unwavering passion for board games. I love sitting down with friends, sipping a steaming espresso, and diving into worlds made of cards and dice. Yet, there’s something else that sets my heart racing: the energy and sweetness of our pets, especially dogs and cats, who surprise us with unexpected smiles day after day.
It’s from this blend of gaming and love for animals that my most important project was born: Tails Academy, a card game in which our four-legged friends become heroes ready to embark on breathtaking adventures. So far, I’ve invested my savings to develop a working prototype, but I feel I can do so much more. I’d like to transform a concept on paper into a shared experience for those who, like me, love relaxing moments with friends… and maybe a good coffee.
The Journey and the Values of Tails Academy
With Tails Academy, I decided not to stop at the gameplay aspect alone. I want to create a point of reference for those who adore dogs and cats, and who believe that a game can also offer useful tips, advice, and small discoveries about caring for our beloved furry companions. That’s why I intend to collaborate with artists, local artisans, and specialists who will help me combine fun with a dash of education.
My dream is to grow together with a community of enthusiasts, organizing gatherings and special events where we can share stories, play, and learn. Additionally, part of the resources will be allocated to supporting causes committed to animal protection, because I believe that when we have fun, it’s even better to make a positive impact on the real world.
The 5,000 CHF Goal and the Founder Edition
To make Tails Academy a reality, I need an initial backing of 5,000 francs. This amount will be used to pay the artists and artisans who will bring the game’s illustrations and materials to life, as well as to strengthen the IT infrastructure (software, low-power hardware) necessary to handle artificial intelligence and graphic processing.
I’ve already invested my own savings, but I’d like to consolidate everything in preparation for summer 2025, when I’ll publish a Founder Edition in limited print run—meant for those who immediately believe in Tails Academy and want to take home a unique handcrafted piece. The final release is scheduled for 2026, but if we manage to surpass this goal, I plan to organize even more events, create more refined artwork, and perhaps start partnerships with organizations that care about animal well-being. In short, every extra franc will be a step closer to turning Tails Academy into an unforgettable experience. My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who supports this small yet grand adventure!
