Prototype for Living Lands

First of all: Many thanks to all of you who made it possible to collectively raise CHF 5,000 for «Living Lands.» This will allow me to take the next big step: the prototype.

However, I would like to take this opportunity to communicate transparently about the budget. Some of you may have noticed that When the crowdfunding reached 100%, it jumped from CHF 5,000 to CHF 10,000. The reason for this is as follows: «Living Lands» was co-financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation through its «Science Booster» funding program. This means that every franc raised is doubled up to a maximum of CHF 5,000. The only condition is that the minimum target must be reached, and thanks to you, I have achieved that.

The key point here is that the ten thousand francs correspond to the budget I actually need via crowdfunding. The «Science Booster» gave me the opportunity to halve the risk and start with a minimum target of CHF 5,000.

Now I have set an additional goal of 12,500 CHF, and you may be wondering why. So let me briefly explain the budget behind the development of the prototype:

• Total budget required for the prototype: 44,500 CHF
• Budget already secured from other foundations: 25,000 CHF
• Budget currently secured via crowdfunding: 10,000 CHF
• Remaining budget required: 9,400 CHF

(I will also have to pay people to develop the app and AR for me.)

The desired goal via We Make It crowdfunding: CHF 15,000. However, this is currently rather unrealistic by November 14 at 6:00 p.m. That’s why I’m trying for CHF 12,500 first.

What added value will the additional money generate? The more I raise through crowdfunding, the more detailed I can make the prototype and the more convincing I can make its content in order to then approach large foundations. In addition, 10% goes to We Make It and 5-10% is needed for production and shipping of the rewards. So, either way, there won’t be CHF 10,000 left over for the project.

Philipp hat mich bereits letztes Jahr über den Aletsch geführt und es war wohl eines der eindrücklichsten Erlebnisse in den Bergen bis jetzt. Ich kann es nur empfehlen.

To celebrate, I’m adding four new rewards, so feel free to share the project with your friends and family. Some of them would make great Christmas gifts ;-)

IMPORTANT INFO (because many people may not actually read the detailed description of the rewards, haha): All rewards with «++» at the end will automatically receive the final product upon its release. This means the poster and full access to the augmented reality project via the app. Of course, it would have been cool to offer this already. However, time was a decisive factor, and a lot can change before the final release. This would mean that the poster would have to be redesigned… and we don’t want to be wasteful :P
