We made it! What a journey of magic and surprises. Specially the last week was very dynamic and we are overwhelmed by your support, the beautiful encounters and events and grateful for your generosity for regeneration in Mértola. This will help us to seed the future.

What will come next? With you generous support we have more that one third of the total budget for our regenerative nursery Mértola. This will enable us to really focus now on the forgotten varieties of Al Andaluz and being able to re-grow and produce the most resilient and climate adapted species fort he semi-arid conditions of Mértola.

Staying connected with Mértola: We will start sending out the rewards in the coming two weeks and will keep you updated here. It is important that you check your address in your wemakeit profile before then. Only then will the rewards arrive! Our goal is for all rewards to reach you by Easter.

And now? Not only is more than one third of our budget 2022/2023 for the regenerative nursery now financed, but we have now also received additional indications for future support of the regeneration initiative Mértola. We still have to find some remaining funding. We gratefully accept help with this.

s already February and only a few drops of rain touched the soil in Mértola. Marta explains why the regenerative Nursery «Horto of Forgotten Varieties of Al Andaluz « is an essential piece for the entire regeneration process and for humans to be able to continue farming in this region. Access to climate adapted seeds and plants is a pre-condition for scaling-up the regeneration of degraded land. An important focus of our work is on species and varieties that are more resilient to semi-arid/drought conditions (both from Portugal and other Mediterranean countries), which will be re-grown locally.

We are delighted that we reached the milestone of half of our minimum. Thank you for your generous contributions!

Bia, our dog from the regenerative nursery campaign film, is a bit concerned now and guards us, that we don’t fall asleep :-). Let’s make another effort. Looking at the amazing people that have now already supported our campaign and thinking about the phenomenal connections and relationships of each of us: Imagine, what we could make happen, if we activate now this combined network and each one of us manages to get three more supporters. PS The picture shows our small shop/community kitchen in the centre of the village. There we sell our seedlings, little trees and also we sell and process the healthy local vegetables and also spend our lunch break. On the wall it says: «They already wanted to bury us. They didn’t know we were seeds» ☺ In this sense we continue to grow…
