Who the hell is Christl?
Hey you there, in front of your screen. Thanks for stopping by. It is nice to meet you. If you don’t know who I am, let me introduce myself first. My name is Christl, I’m 19 years old and a singer-songwriter, based in Vienna.
Music has been an essential part of my life since the beginning. It’s an escape, and a way to express myself. I use it to share stories that otherwise wouldn’t be told. My music could be described as a big mixture of soul, pop, a bit of jazz as well as influences of neo-soul and Rnb.
Releasing my own songs for the first time is a big step and the start of a new chapter in my life. It means to be true to myself and others, to accept who I am now, where I’ve been, and who I want to be in the future. With this campaign, I would love to share a part of my journey with each and everyone of you out there.
What is GameOver all about?
«GameOver» is the title of my first single, which will be out in January 2020. It’s very hard to explain what the song is really about. Last year gave me the opportunity to develop myself, get to know who I am as an artist, and grow as a person. «GameOver» portrays the process and the emotions that helped me become the women I am now.
Initially, I wrote that song about the feeling of being loved. We often picture love as the ultimate feeling of joy and the thing that we’re all searching for. But sometimes we can lose ourselves while trying to be loved. Sometimes we feel trapped trying to receive love from someone who isn’t able to show their true feelings, and the things we need the most but expect the least get in our way and we realize what truly matters.
What can I help you, Christl?
Yeah, good question. As mentioned above, I’m going to release «GameOver», my first single. I have been working on it for nearly half a year now, together with my amazing producer, David Piribauer. Last year I won «The Voice of Austria 2018» and got the opportunity to record and produce one of my songs in The Mushroom Studios. But publishing a song requires more than writing and producing it. There are a few more steps left before we can share « Game Over» with the world. I want to tell this story in my own terms - no creative limitations, no guidelines. To create something completely from scratch and on your own takes a lot of effort and isn’t possible without an amazing team supporting you. An entire release includes the production of a music video, promotion on social media and radio, production costs and loads of other stuff like merch or administrative charges. To make clear what the budget is exactly used for, here are some hard facts:
1) 3000€ are used for the video production. I can’t visualize and tell the story on my own, so along the way there will arise costs for the production team, stylists and designers, the makeup team, locations and models, etc. This music video is an art project including many rising artists. We truly want to connect young talents and create something special and unique together. Therefore, it’s very important for me to build these professional relationships in an atmosphere where everybody feels valued and appreciated. This is why we want to cover all travel and material costs, as well as special needs for all the creatives in our team.
2) 1000€ are needed for promotions on social media and on streaming platforms. It’s a long way to get my song on the radio in order to increase my audience, but with your help to reach our budget, there is a higher chance for a young artist like me.
3) 1500€ is the budget for other expenses that may pop up, like contracts, musicians in the studio, and administrative charges. This also includes the producing of my limited «GameOver» merch and realising some cool release surprises for you!
I would greatly appreciate it if you could donate, share, like or even just tell your granny or neighbour about my crowdfunding campaign. It would mean the world to me if you trust and support the realisation of one of my most meaningful projects yet.
There are also a few great goodies in store for you. For example, the limited «GameOver» merch line that includes shirts, stickers, and tote bags. You can also experience some special moments with me, like a guestlist spot for the single release party, a private living room concert, and a secret gig somewhere in Vienna. «GameOver» should get us closer together, connect us, and remind us why music makes the world a better place. I’m sure we can do it together!
Loads of love, Christl
