This is what it's all about.
Hello there! My name is LocY and I am a 20 year old musician currently residing in Bern. My main goal is to be able to produce my own songs and develop my own sound. Beginning of this year I took a hard look at myself and realized that after 10 years of doing music, I have never given myself a proper chance at doing my own thing.
The moment I finished writing «Slow Down» I realized it was the song to start this journey. In it I talk about my struggle with my temper and not being able to be patient with myself. I know I’m not the only one out there going trough this so if you can relate, I hope this song helps you too.
Since it’s very special to me I want to give the song the effort and quality it deserves by recording it in a professional studio. That’s why I decided to start this Crowdfunding project. My hope is that you listen to the demo and help me give it a chance.
My project is special because ...
The song I want to record is called «Slow Down» and it means a lot to me. It refers to a feeling that has accompanied me all my life. I’ve always wanted to try my best at everything. As a consequence I tend to have little patience with myself if I feel like I’m not doing good enough. A teacher of mine once said that similar to a wild horse I was trying to gallop before learning how to trot. Inspired by this, I wrote this song to describe how hard it is for me to fight this urge. Doing so feels like I’m fighting against my own nature.
It all clicked musically an evening while improvising a riff on my guitar. It felt like the song was flowing out of me. The result was a contradiction between sound and lyrics, because while the title and lyrics talk about slowing down, the music only becomes more intense the more time passes.
In conclusion «Slow Down» is not only the name of my debut single but a mantra I have to repeat to myself often. My wish is to share this song with the world so that in case someone is going trough the same thing, they’ll feel less alone.
This is what I need backing for.
As a music student one of the main issues I have is that at the moment I am not able to make enough money through music to support my career. On the side I work at a restaurant but that only manages to cover part of my school and food expenses.
In average a day at the studio in Bern costs between 400 to 500 CHF. And that is without someone helping you use the infrastructure. Luckily to professionally record «Slow Down» I have found a Studio in Bern (Mu.sick Studios) that is keen to help young artists in the making. They offered me a good one time price of 2’600 CHF to do the whole thing: recording, producing, mixing and mastering.
This of course is an amazing opportunity not only to finally release something of my own but also to learn as much as I can during the process. However it’s still a large amount of money to pay at once that I do not have.
