A dream come true for our young talents!

We are Close Encounters Theatre, a dynamic English-speaking theatre company in Zurich. We are producing the rock musical «Spring Awakening» which we will perform at Millers in Zurich in April 2020. Our project gives 24 young actors from the Zurich area the unique opportunity to participate in a professional production in one of the most renowned theatres in the city of Zurich. The actors are young adults between the ages of 14 and 28. All are amateurs. Over a period of four months, from January to April 2020, we will train them in acting, singing and dance and prepare them for their performance on stage. A live rock band will support the actors. The musical will be performed in English for the first time in Switzerland.

Our project is special because ...

Our project offers young adults a great opportunity to gain an insight into the world of acting, singing and dancing and to perform in a professional theatre. Side effects such as greater self-confidence, teamwork, cultural exchange and improved English skills cannot be excluded and are intended.

This is what we need backing for.

We produce our project professionally, with a lot of passion and countless hours of work. We, Tara Brodin and Joanne Willmott, are the director and choreographer. We were able to hire Milica Lazić as music director and experienced stage designers and light and sound technicians for our production. A seven-member live rock band will support the actors. With Millers, we were able to book the perfect venue. As you can see, we spared no effort in bringing a professional show to the stage to offer our young actors an unforgettable experience. Of course, the production of our musical costs money and currently some members of our crew are working without pay. Your support helps us to cover some of the costs, e.g. for the costumes, the stage design, the musicians or our lighting technician.
