My name is Daniel Terrapon and I’ve been a motorhome driver for about fifteen years. Although my vehicle is well equipped with a small kitchen, I don’t always want to cook for myself in the evening when I’ve been driving for most of the day. Finding a restaurant where I can park my vehicle is sometimes complicated, and finding a place to sleep once I’ve left the restaurant even more so. Convinced that I’m not the only one facing this problem, in early 2022 I created the CAMPER GOURMET app.

It offers access to a large European directory of restaurants, all of which allow campervanners and vanlifers to spend the night for free in the vicinity of the establishment in their vehicles, provided that they have eaten at their tables.

It’s the ideal way to quickly find a restaurant where you can put your feet up, enjoy a glass of wine (in moderation) and spend the night free of charge before continuing your journey.
It’s also a great opportunity for restaurant owners, who can take advantage of free advertising to attract a passing clientele.

What’s more, at a time when the number of leisure vehicles is constantly increasing, CAMPER GOURMET also makes it possible to provide night-time parking spaces without creating new car parks and at no cost to local authorities.

To date, CAMPER GOURMET has :

• More than 700 partner restaurants in 9 European countries. From pizzerias to Michelin-starred restaurants, not forgetting beautiful little country inns. Something to suit all tastes and budgets.
• Some 3,000 night-time parking spaces created free of charge
• 13,500 active users from all over Europe… a figure that’s growing by the day
• Discounts and benefits offered by partner restaurants to Camper Gourmet members
• A commitment to devote 25% of profits to funding trips for people with disabilities

A community of ambassadors who will help discover the flavours of their region

Increasing the number of partner restaurants is, of course, a key objective and always will be. But while the original idea behind CAMPER GOURMET is constantly evolving, it has become clear that the publication of GOURMET ITINERARIES, as a complement to the current offering, is a must if you want to discover the flavours of one or other of Europe’s regions.

Travelling the hills and valleys, discovering some unusual places, stopping off at local producers’ and craftsmen’s, spending the evening at a restaurant serving typical regional cuisine and tasting a little local wine… what better way to discover a region and savour all its flavours. And all this while solving the parking problem.

If you’re not travelling with your own holiday accommodation, it doesn’t matter. You can of course take advantage of the GOURMET ITINERARIES. All you need to do is find overnight accommodation. And as many of the partner restaurants also offer a hotel service, you won’t have to look far.

But you have to be realistic. Although I’ve been able to develop the CAMPER GOURMET application on my own up to now, or almost, it’s impossible to carry out this new project without help. The project to which I’m inviting you to contribute essentially consists of creating a community of ambassadors from all over Europe. Motorhome driver or not, they will be keen to help you discover their region by creating 2 or 3 day itineraries that are off the beaten track.

From the outset, CAMPER GOURMET has been financed by personal contributions and the small amount of revenue generated by the application itself. These revenues have been entirely reinvested.

Your support is essential if we are to take this next step and create the GOURMET ITINERARIES library.

Initially, it will enable us to launch a recruitment campaign to create a community of Camper Gourmet ambassadors. These ambassadors will be drawn mainly from the world of motorhomes and vanlife, but not exclusively. In return for a fee, they will write the first itineraries.

At the same time, the application will be modified to make the itineraries available to all Camper Gourmet members.

The first GOURMAND ITINERARIES are due to go online in early spring 2024. Your support should ensure that there are around fifty of them by the end of that year.
