..lang ist’s her, ich wollte mich schon viel eher melden.. ihr wisst ja, dass ich in Bregenz war, und einige von euch wissen auch, dass ich davon drei Wochen im Krankenhaus war.. ein sehr seltsames «undulierendes Fieber» hatte mich plötzlich angehupft, aber trotz ’zig Kontrollen und Analysen fanden die Ärzte nicht heraus was da los war.. Antibiotika, 10 Tage, pro vier Flascherl, machten dann der nie identifizierten Infektion den Garaus. Jedenfalls kam ich einfach nie dazu -

• euch zu erzählen, dass ich alle Belohnungen überreichte, verschickte oder einfach am Eingang abgab ;)..

..ich präsentierte die Karte auch dem Landeskulturamt in Bregenz, die die den Druck der Produkte bezahlte.. UND, was mich sehr freut, aber auch noch völlig offen ist - meine Frage, ob wir nicht eine Version für Vorarlberg erarbeiten wollen, viel in offene und interessierte Ohren.. jetzt will ich ein Vorkonzept und eine Workshopstruktur für alle offene Fragen (Vorarlberg hat ja komplett andere kulturelle und sozioökonomische Voraussetzungen) plus einer Kostenaufstellung erarbeiten.. mal sehen, es juckt mich sehr, «das selbe» in einem ganz anderen Kontext zu realisieren. Der Kontext ist ja meine «alte Heimat»..

..mal sehen. Ich halte euch auf dem Laufenden! Apropos - wie gefiel euch das Resultat - die Stadtkarte? Dass die Leporelli drucktechnisch und papiermässig sehr eiern, erwähnte ich ja schon, aber eben - die Karte!?

it’s been a long time, I wanted to get in touch much earlier… you know that I was in Bregenz, and some of you also know that I was in hospital for three weeks… a very strange «undulating fever» had suddenly got me, but despite ’umpteen checks and analyses the doctors couldn’t find out what was going on… Antibiotics, 10 days, four little bottles an day, then put an end to the never identified infection. Anyway, I just never got around to do it -

to tell you that I handed over all the rewards, sent them or just left them at the entrance ;).

I also presented the card to the Landeskulturamt in Bregenz, which paid for the printing of the products. AND, for what I’m realy happy - all remains completely open so far- my question, if we wouldn’t like to work out a version for Vorarlberg, was reflected with lots of interest and openness.. now I want to work out a preliminary concept and a workshop structure for all open questions (Vorarlberg has completely different cultural and socio-economic conditions..) plus a cost breakdown… let’s see, I’m very itchy to realize «the same» in a completely different context. The context is my «old home».

..let’s see. I’ill keep you updated! By the way - btw. - how did you like the result - the city map? I’ve already mentioned that the Leporelli are very fussy in terms of printing and paper, but - the map!?

da steht er nun mein alter Koffer, voll gepackt mit Leporellos, Stadtkarten, T-Shirts und C-prints, das heißt mit allen Belohnungen, die ich euch nach Mitteleuropa mitbringe.

denn es fehlt nur noch knapp eine halbe Stunde und dieses Crowdfunding endet; dann kann niemand mehr geben, nur noch lesen und sehen, und das Projekt wandert automatisch in das Archiv.

ich reise derweil an den nächsten Flughafen, denn in nur wenigen Stunden, um die Mittagszeit, geht mein Flieger von Brindisi nach Zürich!

so werde ich irgendwann in den nächsten Tagen, wenn das Umarmen und Hallo-sagen abklingt (ich war eineinhalb Jahre nicht mehr bei meiner Mutter und Schwester und Nichte und Freunde!), damit beginnen die vielen Päckchen vorzubereiten - 56 an der Zahl!

Good morning!

there it is, my old suitcase, packed with leporellos, city maps, t-shirts and c-prints, that is, with all the rewards i’ll bring you to Central Europe.

because there’s only about half an hour left and this crowdfunding ends; then nobody can give anymore, only read and see, and the project automatically goes into the archive.

in the meantime i travel to the next airport, because in only a few hours around noon my plane leaves from Brindisi to Zurich!

so sometime in the next few days, when the hugging and saying hello fades out (i haven’t seen my mother and sister and niece and friends for a year and a half!), i will start preparing the many packages - 56 in number!

and so you will soon receive yours - please be so kind and send me your postal address via e-mail so that i know where i can send it to.

nach einer wunderbaren Präsentation gestern Abend, will ich euch ein paar schummrige Bilder und ein paar frohe Zeilen schicken.

es lief einfach nur rund und gut! und jetzt ist es wahr und unsere 3 Produkte sind bereits in den Straßen Lecces im Umlauf - Amadou verteilte sie noch gestern Nacht, nachdem ich ihn und Issa heimfuhr, seinen afrikanischen Freunden und Mitstreitern.

..aber zuerst holte sie Judith gegen 20:00 ab - ich war derweil noch ein kleines Video-Interview für das Archiv der Crocevia am geben.. und sah gerade, dass sie davon einen Ausschnitt in ihr FB stellten (auf italienisch, bissl hinunterscrollen..):

nachdem Ilaria vom CROCEVIA-team den Abend mit einer freundlichen Begrüßung einleitete, und ich auch alle (rund 100 Leute) herzlich willkommen hieß und euch, allen Anwesenden und speziell Francesca Danke sagte, stelle ich kurz Judith vor - und verwies auf unser aller Glück, weil sie doch unlängst von Brüssel nach Lecce zog. Gleich danach beginnt Judith uns und das Projekt vorzustellen, indem sie einen großen Bogen durch ihr Fachgebiet, die relationale Kunst, spannt.

zu mir weiß sie ja aus dem Stegreif, wegen unser vielen Kooperationen, etwas zu sagen, zu Amadou und Issa hat sie sich in einem Gespräch mit den beiden kurz vor der Eröffnung auf der Herfahrt schlau gemacht :)

ich empfand eine riesen Freude - dass so viele Freunde kamen, dass einige Interessierte, nie Gesehene kamen, dass Amadou und Issa in ihren bunten Hemden strahlten, und uns Amadou auf seine wunderbar ruhige und ernste, aber auch leichte und sehr gerade Art zu erzählen wusste, wie er zur Entscheidung fand einen Verlag für afrikanische Literatur im Straßenverkauf zu gründen.. und wie es kam, dass wir uns über den Weg liefen und sehr schnell wussten, dass wir zusammen Projekte entwickeln wollten.

aber das wichtigste in unserem Zusammenhang: die Produkte, bzw. das LECCEBILITÀ-Kit kamen sehr gut an! Amadou sagte den vielleicht wichtigsten Satz, der ganzen, gut einstündigen, Vorstellung - sinngemäß: «Dass afrikanische Straßenverkäufer exklusiv eine alternative Stadtkarte anbieten finde ich großartig! Es äußert sich darin eine sehr starke und schöne Interkulturelle Geste. Ich hoffe sie macht Schule».

in der anschließenden Frage-Antwort-Runde wünschte man uns dann auch mehrmals unser Projekt der Stadtkarte und seiner speziellen Exklusivität, möge in anderen Italienischen Städten kopiert werden. Gerne, das wünschen wir uns selber auch.

während dem anschließenden, kleinen Fest lernte ich dann auch prompt Cristiano, einen jungen Aktivisten aus Gallipoli, kennen. Zusammen mit Andrea vom «Fahrradbüro» Lecce entwickelt er gerade ein ähnliches Büro für Gallipoli.

Cristiano, der ja vor kurzem von mir in der Präsentation hörte, dass der ganze Datensatz und das Design von LECCEBILITÀ ein open-source-Projekt ist, fragte mich, ob wir uns in Ruhe treffen könnten - er wolle ein Folgeprojekt vorschlagen! Sehr gerne - wir treffen uns gegen Ende September nach meiner Vorarlbergreise.

um Mitternacht fahre ich Amadou, Issa und die vier großen Kisten mit den Stadtkarten nach Hause. Wir umarmen uns fest und sind sehr froh! Nur am heutigen Abend verkaufte Issa Kits für über 200 Euro ein!

..über alles weitere halte ich euch via Newsletter auf dem normalen E-mail-Weg auf dem Laufenden. Wenn ich es schaffe, melde ich mich aber noch einmal, bevor hier der Vorhang runter geht.

Good evening,

after a wonderful presentation last night, i want to send you some dim pictures and a few happy lines.

it just went smoothly and well! and now it’s true and our 3 products are already circulating in the streets of Lecce - Amadou was still distributing them last night after I drove him and Issa home.

..but first Judith picked them up at 8:00 pm - i was doing a little video interview for the Crocevia archive in the meanwhile… and just saw that they put a clip of it in their FB (in Italian, scroll down a bit…):

..after Ilaria from the CROCEVIA team introduced the evening with a friendly welcome and me as well welcomed all (about 100 people) and thanked YOU, all present and especially Francesca, i briefly introduced Judith - and pointed out that we are all lucky because she recently moved from Brussels to Lecce. Immediately afterwards Judith starts to introduce us and the project by covering a wide range of her field of expertise, the relational art.

about me she can say something right off the bat because of our many collaborations, on Amadou and Issa she found out in a conversation with them on the way here shortly before the opening :)

i felt great joy - that so many friends came, that some interested, never seen-before-people came, that Amadou and Issa were shining in their colourful shirts, and that Amadou knew how to tell us in his wonderfully calm and serious, but also light and very straight way, how he found the decision to found a publishing house for African literature in street sales… and how it happened that we ran into each other and knew very quickly that we wanted to develop projects together.

but the most important thing in our context: the products, or rather the LECCEBILITÀ kit, were very well received! Amadou said perhaps the most important sentence of the whole, well one hour of presentation - in the following sense: «That African street vendors exclusively offer an alternative city map is great! It expresses a very strong and beautiful intercultural gesture. i don’t doubt that this will be a success».

in the following question and answer session we were wished several times our project of the city map and its special exclusivity, may be copied in other Italian cities. Gladly, we wish it ourselves as well.

..and during the small party that followed, i promptly met Cristiano, a young activist from Gallipoli. Together with Andrea from the «bicycle office» in Lecce he is currently developing a similar office for Gallipoli.

Cristiano, who recently heard from me in the presentation that the whole dataset and design of LECCEBILITÀ is an open source project, asked me if we could meet in calm - he wanted to suggest a follow-up project! With pleasure - we meet at the end of September after my Vorarlberg trip.

At midnight i drive Amadou, Issa and the four big boxes with the city maps home. We hug each other firmly and are very happy! Only this evening Issa sold kits for over 200 Euro!

..i will keep you informed about everything else via newsletter on the normal e-mail way. But if i make it, I will get back to you before the curtain goes down here.

bevor es morgen soweit ist und wir Abends unsere 3 Produkte und uns selber als Team vorstellen, will ich mich nochmals melden. Denn gestern am späten Nachmittag kamen auch die 1000 gedruckten Karten an!

oben seht ihr ein gefaltetes Exemplar in meiner Hand liegen.

ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Druck! Alles passt, die Farben, deren Sättigung, die Kontraste, das Papier (!), sehr fein! Einzig: die Faltung eiert hier und da ein bisschen, aber dass die Druckerei damit ihre Mühe hatte, kann ich verstehen, und finde eigentlich auch nicht wirklich schlimm.. hmmm, im Gegenteil, es macht dieses kleine Eiern der Faltung jede Karte zu einem Original.

den meisten wird es nicht einmal auffallen, dreht es sich dabei ja um ein praktisches Produkt, und nicht vordergründig um eine moderne Kunst :) Bald werdet ihr sie selbst in Händen halten und sehen, ich bin gespannt wie ihr es seht und empfindet.

dann oben auch noch ein Bild des gesamten Kit, wie ich es gestern schon erwähnte - so sieht das jetzt aus. Vorne das Bäume-Leporello, dazwischen das grafische Leporello, und dahinter die «Basis», der Stadtplan. Solche Packerl machen wir heute Abend 70 Stück, und morgen verkauft sie Issa (aus Dakar, Straßenverkäufer in Lecce seit ca. 5 Jahren) an einem kleinen Produktstand auf unserem morgigen Präsentationsfest.

Ich melde mich dann erst wieder Montags nehme ich an. Es wollen morgen Vormittag schon 6 Freunde aus Polignano anreisen, dann werde ich sicher nicht zum Newsschreiben kommen..

Ach ja- gestern traf ich ja auch noch Amadou! Das Treffen war wie immer sehr freundlich und offen. Alle Entscheidungen ließen sich so einfach finden, und er freute sich sehr, brachte ich ihm als erstes die Leporellos vorbei - die Stadtkarten bekommt er morgen in einem «Festakt». Er wird wie gesagt die ganze Verteiler-Seite übernehmen, und teilte mir gestern mit, dass er auch die «Schmuckfrauen» (Straßenverkäuferinnen, die Schmuck aus Afrika anbieten..) für den Verkauf einladen will; also nicht nur jene Verkäuferinnen, die jetzt Bücher seines kleinen Verlages verkaufen, sondern auch andere - was mich sehr freute!

So, und heute Abend treffe ich Judith Wielander, besagte Kuratorin, denn wir wollen die Präsentation im Dialog machen und heute einmal durchspielen - Judith schlug das vor, und ich denke das ist eine gute Idee - ein Dialog ist doch per se weniger langweilig als es Monologe sind. Wir werden sehen - ihr werdet es nächste Woche nach der Präsentation, kurz vor Ende dieses Crowdfundings erfahren.

Good afternoon,

before we’ll present tomorrow in the evening the 3 products and ourselves as a team, i want to get in touch with you again. Because yesterday in the late afternoon the 1000 printed maps arrived!

above you see a folded copy lying in my hand.

i’m very satisfied with the print! Everything fits, the colors, their saturation, the contrasts, the paper (!), very fine! Only: the folding is a little bit odd here and there, but I can understand that the printer had his trouble with that, and actually i don’t really mind… on the contrary, this little unperfection of the folding makes every card a kind of original.

most people won’t even notice it, because it’s mainly a practical product and not modern art :) Soon you’ll be able to hold it in your own hands, i’m curious how you’ll see and feel it.

then above also a picture of the whole kit, as I mentioned it yesterday - this is how it looks now. In front the tree-leporello, in between the graphic leporello, and behind it the «base», the city map. We’ll make 70 of these packs tonight, and tomorrow they will be sold by Issa (from Dakar, street vendor in Lecce for about 5 years) at a small product stand at our presentation party.

i’ll then contact you again only on Monday i suppose. Tomorrow morning already 6 friends from Polignano will arrive, then I’ll surely wont be able to write some news.

oh yes - yesterday I also met Amadou! The meeting was as always very friendly and open. All decisions were easy to find this way, and he was very happy that i brought him the leporellos already - the city maps he will get tomorrow in the «ceremony». As I said, he will take over the whole distribution side, and yesterday he told me that he also wants to invite the «Jewellery-Ladies « (street sellers who offer jewellery from Africa…) for the sale; not only those sellers who now sell books from his small publishing house, but also others - which made me very happy!

So, and tonight I meet Judith Wielander, mentioned curator, because we want to do the presentation in dialogue and play it through tonight - Judith suggested that, and I think that’s a good idea - dialogue is less boring than monologues, no? We’ll see - you’ll find out next week after the presentation, just before the end of this crowdfunding.

bevor ich gleich nach Trepuzzi fahre, um mit Amadou unsere Präsentation am Sonntag zu besprechen, will ich euch noch kurz darüber informieren, dass die gedruckten Leporellos gestern ankamen.

wie ihr oben aus der Ferne erkennen könnt ist der Druck okay - die Farben also gut.. einzig bin ich ein klein wenig gefrustet, dass ich das billigere Papier nehmen musste.. aber ein stärkeres, kartonartiges, richtiges Postkartenpapier, hätte die Perforation viel komplizierter und einiges teurer, und die geschlossene Ziehharmonika aller 8 Karten zu prall werden lassen.

va bene, diese Kompromisse musst ich eingehen. ich hoffe die Sachen verkaufen sich gut, das ist die Hauptsache.

dann machte ich heute Morgen gleich die «Schlaufengraphik» - siehe oben. Pro A4-Blatt drucke ich 7 Schlaufen, und jede Schlaufe umarmt alle 3 Produkte, die wir Sonntags als LECCEBILITÀ-Kit zum Einführungspreis verkaufen.

Good morning everybody,

before i go to Trepuzzi to discuss our presentation on Sunday with Amadou, i wanted to inform you that the printed leporellos arrived yesterday!

as you can see from distance above, the print is okay - the colors are fine… only i’m a little bit frustrated that I had to use the cheaper paper… but a stronger, cardboard like, real postcard paper would have made the perforation much more complicated (and quiet more expensive), and would have made the closed accordion of all 8 cards too bulging.

va bene, i had to make these compromises. i hope the stuff sells well, that’s the main thing.

then this morning i made the «ribbon-graphic» right away - see above. i’ll print 7 ribbons per 1 A4 sheet, and each ribbon will embrace all 3 products, which we sell on Sundays as a LECCEBILITÀ-kit at the introductory price.

so, i have to go, wish you a pleasant day! i’ll be back soon with fresh news - because tonight around evening the printed city map is supposed to be delivered!

nach einem (endlich wieder einmal) richtig faulen Wochenende, will ich euch mitteilen, dass nun auch die Leute von CROCEVIA aktiv wurden, und die Einladung für kommenden Sonntag zu verschicken begannen - siehe: https://www.facebook.com/events/618133945492317

Oben seht ihr den Banner (eine grafische Zusammenfassung der Legende von LECCEBILITÀ), den Crocevia dafür verwendet.

Letzten Freitag gingen wir (Francesca Eugeni, Judith Wielander und ich) auf einen CROCEVIA-event (Küche Ohne Grenzen - Mexikanisches Dinner), um die Stimmung des Ortes einzuatmen; feiner Ort! Ich glaube der passt perfekt, um dort bald unsere Produkte vorzustellen.

Was sich dann neu entschied und worüber ich mich sehr freue, ist, dass Judith Wielander nächsten Sonntag auch ein paar Worte sagen wird.

Judith Wielander ist eine sehr spannende Kuratorin (siehe ihr Langzeitprojekt VISIBLE: https://www.visibleproject.org/blog) und zu unserer aller Freude zog Judith vor rund zwei Wochen von Brüssel nach Lecce! Wir arbeiteten vor vielen Jahren, gemeinsam mit Teresa Alonso Novo und Michelangelo Pistoletto, eng zusammen, als wir BIG TORINO entwickelten und kuratierten..

..jedenfalls lebt Judith jetzt «zufälligerweise» wieder in der selben Stadt wie ich, und als quasi kleinen Kooperationsauftakt, wollen wir die Stadtkarte und die beiden Leporellos gemeinsam vorstellen. Judith wird diese drei «Souvenirs» von mir als Generaleinladung, diese Stadt kennenzulernen und sich in sie einzumischen, erhalten.

..und dann hatte Francesca noch die schöne Idee eine «kosmopolitische Tapa» zu erfinden, zu kochen und am Sonntag zu servieren. benissimo! ich bin gespannt welche Zutaten und kulinarischen Fusionstricks sie anwenden wird :))

..und ich will diese Woche nutzen, um einerseits mit Amadou zu besprechen wie wir die Präsentation gemeinsam machen wollen, und um andererseits meine nächsten Streiche vorzuskizzieren.. aber davon dann mehr in einem nächsten K.O.G.-Newsletter irgendwann Ende Sommer.

Bleibt dieser Blog eigentlich über das Datum des Crowdfundings hinaus aktiv? Na, so oder so, werde ich euch über die kommenden Schritte und den Präsentationsabend auf dem laufenden halten - wenn nicht hier, dann halt in einem Mail.

..last Friday we (Francesca Eugeni, Judith Wielander and me) went to a CROCEVIA event (Cuisine Without Borders - Mexican Dinner) to breathe in the atmosphere of the place; great place! i think it fits perfectly to present our products there soon.

what was then newly decided and what i’m very happy about is that Judith Wielander will also say a few words next Sunday.

Judith Wielander is a very exciting curator (see her long term project VISIBLE: https://www.visibleproject.org/blog) and to all our joy she moved from Brussels to Lecce about two weeks ago! together with Teresa Alonso Novo and Michelangelo Pistoletto we worked closely together many years ago when we developed and curated BIG TORINO.

..anyway, Judith now «coincidentally» lives again in the same city as i do, and as a kind of small cooperation-starter, we want to present the city map and the two leporellos together. Judith will receive these three «souvenirs» from me as a general invitation to get to know this city and get involved in it.

..and then Francesca had the nice idea to invent a «cosmopolitan tapa», to cook it and to serve it on Sunday, belissimo! I’m curious which ingredients and culinary fusion tricks she will use :))

..and i’ll to use this week to see with Amadou how we want to do the presentation together.. and to outline my next pranks… but more on that in a next K.O.G. newsletter sometime in late summer.

..will this blog actually remain active beyond the date of this crowdfunding? anyway, i’ll keep you updated on the next steps and the presentation evening - if not within here, then in an e-mail.

Gestern war ein voller, toller Tag!

Denn ich stellte das Projekt bei Ilaria und Chicho (den Leuten von CROCEVIA - https://www.facebook.com/centrocrocevia) vor, und es funkte aufs feinste!

Somit haben wir gleich auch das Datum für das Präsentationsfest von LECCEBILITÀ entschieden:

BENVENUTI TUTTI!!

Ich kann es fast nicht glauben! Nach so vielen Versuchen, Rückschlägen, Anläufen, Umwegen und Abkürzungen, und dem langen Aus-Jahr, sind wir fast am Ziel, und das Projekt legt endlich los und wird Teil der Straße - und hoffentlich eine schöne Hilfe für die, die es anbieten und so sehr brauchen können.

Nächsten Sonntag wollen wir einen einfachen, aber festlichen und großen Moment feiern. Amadou, von MODU MODU, und ich, werden sicher ein paar Worte zum Projekt verlieren, Silvia Miglietta, die Stadträtin für Soziales, weilt dann leider schon auswärts in den Ferien, aber vielleicht kommt der Stadtrat für Kultur oder der für Tourismus vorbei.

Egal, wichtig ist, dass viele Freunde und Bekannte kommen, und sich das Projekt schnell herumspricht und Neugierde schürt! Chicho hatte eine gute Idee: Wir fassen jeweils alle drei Produkte (1 Karte + 2 Leporelli) zu Kits zusammen und verkaufen sie am Eröffnungsabend um einen solidarischen Einstiegspreis von 5€, und schauen, dass so viele als möglich unter die Leute und in deren Gespräche kommen.

CROCEVIA will heute eine Presse-Aussendung und -Einladung rauslassen. Dann werden sie sicher auch wemakeit, und indirekt euch alle erwähnen :)

Als einen der stärksten inhaltlichen Punkte, erschien dem Crocevia-Team der Umstand, dass niemand, außer den Verkaufenden, am Ertrag der Produkte etwas verdient. Das freute mich sehr, denn das zeigte mir, dass sie die Idee gut verstanden haben, und dementsprechend auch gut die Werbetrommel rühren werden :)

Heute bin ich sicher mit dem Versenden von Einladungen beschäftigt - die lesen sich meistens so:

Yesterday was a full, great day!

Because i presented the project to Ilaria and Chicho (the people from CROCEVIA - https://www.facebook.com/centrocrocevia), and it sparkled to the max!

So we also decided the date for the presentation party of LECCEBILITÀ right away:

BENVENUTI TUTTI!!

Wow, i hardly can believe it! After so many attempts, setbacks, starts, detours and shortcuts, and the long off-year, we’re almost at the end and the project finally is starting and becomes part of the street - and hopefully a nice help for those who sell it and need it so much.

Next Sunday we want to celebrate a simple but festive and great moment. Amadou, from MODU MODU, and I, will certainly say a few words about the project, Silvia Miglietta, the councillor for social affairs, will unfortunately be away on holiday already, but perhaps the councillor for culture or tourism will come along.

Anyway, the important thing is that many friends and acquaintances come and the project gets around quickly and arouses curiosity! Chicho had a good idea: we combine all three products (1 card + 2 leporelli) into kits and sell them on the opening evening for a solidary starting price of 5€, and make sure that as many as possible come among the people and in their conversations.

CROCEVIA will issue a press release and invitation today. Then they will surely also mention wemakeit and you all :)

One of the strongest points of the content, the Crocevia team felt, is that nobody, except the sellers, earns anything from the profit of the products. I was very happy about this, because it showed me that they understood the idea very well, and that they’re going to promote it accordingly :)

Today I am certainly busy with sending invitations - they usually read like this:

Heute Morgen um 8 war ich schon in der Druckerei ROSATO. Während bei STAMPASUD schon der Druck der Stadtkarte läuft, musste ich bei Rosato den Probedruck der beiden Leporelli kontrollieren.

Oben seht ihr alle 8 Postkarten des zweiten Leoporellos. Beide Serien finden sich auch unter https://omiotu.com/leporelli/ auf meiner www.

Die Probedrucke, also die Farben waren okay, einzig das Papier wollte ich um 50 Gramm schwerer - anstatt 300, jetzt 350 Gramm.

Diese zweite Serien mit den, so finde ich, schönsten Bäumen Lecces, entstand aus einer durch und durch kommerziellen Frage: was verkauft sich gut an Touristen?

Eine solche Frage im Prozess eines freien Kunstprojektes zu stellen macht in diesem Fall Sinn, bzw. ist es nicht als Verrat an der Kunst, sondern als ihre Verantwortung zu verstehen. Spannend!

Diese kommerzielle Frage und deren Berücksichtigung im ästhetischen Entscheidungsprozess spielte in allen drei Produkten eine wesentliche Rolle. An ihrer Wirkung (Verkaufszahlen) muss sich der Erfolg des Projektes auch messen lassen.

Heute Nachmittag besuche ich CROCEVIA, das autonome Interkulturelle Zentrum am nordwestlichen Stadtrand von Lecce (https://www.facebook.com/centrocrocevia), um vorzuschlagen das Präsentationsfest dort zu machen - angepeilter Termin ist nächsten Freitag der 7. August!

Buongiorno tutti!

This morning at 8 o’clock i was already at the printing house ROSATO. While STAMPASUD is already working on the city map, i had to check the proofs of the two Leporelli at Rosato.

Above you see all 8 postcards of the second Leoporello. Both series can also be found at https://omiotu.com/leporelli/ on my www.

The proofs, i.e. the colors were okay, only the paper i wanted 50 grams heavier - instead of 300, now 350 grams.

This second series with the, i think, most beautiful trees of Lecce, was born from a thoroughly commercial question: what sells best to tourists?

To ask such a question in the process of a free art project makes sense in this case, or rather it is not to be understood as a betrayal of art, but rather as its responsibility. Exciting!

This commercial question and its consideration in the aesthetic decision-making process played an essential role in all three products. The success of the project must also be measured by its impact (sales numbers).

This afternoon i will visit CROCEVIA, the autonomous intercultural centre on the north-western outskirts of Lecce (https://www.facebook.com/centrocrocevia), to propose to organize the presentation party there - the planned date is next Friday, August 7th!

endlich, das Problem mit dem Falten ist gelöst! Und zwar genau so wie ich das haben wollte - einfach!

heute Mittag erhielt ich eine Video von der Druckerei - siehe oben - welches das Falten zeigt. Gut, genau so muss es sein.

Außerdem lies mich STAMPASUD (so heißt der Laden) wissen, dass die 1000 Kopien in 8 Werktagen bei mir in Lecce sein sollten. Va bene, dann kann ich mich endlich auch daran machen, den Ort und den Präsentationsabend einzufädeln.

finally, the problem with folding is solved - exactly the way I wanted it to be - simple!

today at noon I received a video from the printing house - see above - which shows the folding. Good, that’s exactly how it has to be.

Furthermore STAMPASUD (that’s the name of the print shop) let me know that the 1000 copies should artrive in Lecce in 8 working days. Va bene, then I can finally get to work on the location and the presentation evening as well.

yesterday i got a call from Amadou of MODU MODU - that’s the publishing house Amadou founded and which, translated from african into italian, offers books, also exclusively on the street (and online at http://modumodu.blogspot.com/).

Amadou asked me to design a book for MODU MODU. «With pleasure!» We will meet these days anyway to discuss the presentation party for Leccebilità, then he wants to show me what the book is about.

and please know, that i want to spend on this work every Euro that goes beyond the 6000 .

..gestern am frühen Abend rief mich Herr Rosato von der Druckerei an, es gäbe Probleme mit der Faltung, ich solle doch bitte schnell vorbeikommen.

..kaum war ich dort, erzählte mir der sehr gestresste Herr Rosato, dass er eben stundenlang herumtelefoniert hätte, aber weit und breit keinen fand, der eine so große und so geschickte Maschine hätte, um den Plan so zu falten, wie es mein Vorgabe (siehe oben) verlangt.

anstatt dessen müssten alle Faltmaschinen, die es im Salento gäbe, einen Mitte-Falz einlegen, was zur Konsequenz hätte, dass die Positionen der Titel- und der Rückseite nicht mehr mit meiner Grafik übereinstimmten; logischerweise müsse ich deshalb auch die Grafik des kleinen «Falt-Manual» neu gestalten - so einfach, wie ich das wolle - erst alles vertikal, dann horizontal - ginge das leider nicht.

Au weia!

genau das wollte ich verhindern - dass das falten, wie so oft bei so grossen Karten, schnell in einem Falzchaos endet, und das eigentlich praktische der Pocket-Karte in einem Kuddelmuddel endet. Ich bat Herrn Rosato weiterzusuchen, irgendwer müsse diese einfache Faltung doch hinbekommen!

kaum war ich draussen rief ich Paolo an - Paolo ist ein Zulieferer von Druckaufträgen in der Provinz Bari - als ich noch in dieser Gegend lebte, arbeitete ich immer wieder mit ihm zusammen. Vor meinem Anruf schickte ich Paolo obiges Faltplänchen, dass es auch sicher keine Missverständnisse gibt.

kurz vor 21:00 rief er mich zurück und meinte es gäbe einen, der es in Bari machen könnte :)! allerdings müsse man einen halbmanuellen Arbeitsschritt einlegen, was die Sache etwas teurer machen würde. Er liesse mich heute wissen was das in Euro heisst. Wahrscheinlich müsse ich die Karte aber auch in Bari drucken lassen, er glaube nicht, dass die bei 1000 Kopien nur die Faltung machen wollten, da spränge zu wenig raus - bzw. wäre es sicher auch für mich preiswerter, ich liesse alles in Bari machen.

Va bene Paolo, ich bin für alles offen, Hauptsache die Faltung und das Faltplänchen bleiben so einfach!

bevor ich begann diese News zu verfassen, verschaffte ich mir einen Überblick, was es bedeutete, würde die Karte auch in Bari gedruckt… denn das hiesse, dass ich das Impressum ändern muss - jetzt ist dort Rosato (wegen einem grosszügigen Preisabschlag) erwähnt - fällt diese Info weg, hab ich dort ein «grafisches Loch».. mal schauen.. ich sitze auf Nägeln, und hoffe Paolo meldet sich bald!

derweil arbeite ich an den Leporello weiter - alle 16 Bilder für den Druck klarmachen!

…yesterday in the early evening Mr. Rosato from the print shop called me, there were problems with the folding, if i could pass by quickly.

…as soon as i was there, the very stressed Mr. Rosato told me that he had just been calling around for hours, but couldn’t find anyone in the whole Salento who had such a large and clever machine to fold the plan as my instructions (see above) required.

instead, all folding machines that exist in Salento would have to insert a kind of center-fold, which would have the consequence that the positions of the title- and the back-side would no longer match my graphic; logically, i would therefore have to redesign the graphic of the little «folding manual» - as simple as I wanted it to be - first everything vertically, then horizontally - unfortunately it could not be.

Oh dear!

..that’s exactly what i wanted to prevent - that the folding, as so often with such large maps, quickly ends in a fold-chaos, and the actually practical of the pocket map ends up in a mess. i asked Mr. Rosato to please keep on searching, somebody had to make this simple folding! In the meantime I’d do the same..

as soon as was i outside than i called Polo - Paolo is a supplier of print jobs in the province of Bari - when i lived in that area i worked with him several times. before i called, i sent Paolo the above graphics, so there will be for sure no misunderstandings.

shortly before 21:00 he called me back and said there was someone who could do it in Bari :)! but he had to do a half-manual step, which would make it a bit more expensive. He’d let me know today what that means in Euro… but he doesn’t think that they’d only want to do the folding with just 1000 copies, - and it would also be cheaper for me, if I had everything done in Bari.

Va bene Paolo, I’m open to everything, the main thing is that the folding and the folding plan remain so simple!

before i started writing this news, i got an overview of what it would mean if the map would also be printed in Bari… because that would mean that i would have to change the imprint - now Rosato is mentioned there (because of a generous discount) - if this info is omitted, i have a «graphic hole» there… let’s see… i’m sitting on nails, and hope Paolo will call me soon!

..meanwhile i continue to work on the two Leporello - get all 16 images ready for printing!

vielen Dank euch allen! heute ganz speziell all denen, die neu als meine Unterstützerinnen dazu gekommen sind. ich freue mich sehr, dass wir schon bei fast 75% sind!

das Wochenende wollte ich eigentlich frei machen und am Strand, oder besser gesagt im und mit dem Meer feiern, weil ich Samstags das Printfile der Stadtkarte in der Druckerei abgab.

..aber dann rief mich Herr Rosato (der Chef der Druckerei) Samstag Nachmittag an, und bat mich kurz rein zu schauen, denn es gäbe Probleme mit der Faltung der Karte - ich hätte vorgesehen, dass sie erst horizontal und dann vertikal gefaltet würde, aber dafür seien alle Maschinen im Umkreis von 300 Kilometer zu klein.

..er hätte gerade ein Stunde lang herum telefoniert, aber alle könnten den A1 großen Plan nur dann wie gewünscht auf das Pocketformat falten, wenn wir die Faltrichtungen ändern würden.

Grrrrr…. okay, das wussten wir beide nicht, wieder etwas dazu gelernt - und gleich Sonntag Morgen ging es zurück nach Lecce, wo ich mehr oder weniger den ganzen Tag damit beschäftigt war, die Karte grafisch umzustrukturieren.

oben seht ihr den neuen Faltplan, der sich unten links auf der Karte befindet.

weil sich deshalb logischerweise auch die Position der Rückseite des gefalteten Planes änderte, musste ich auch die entsprechenden Segmente neu konzipieren und gestalten.

..und wie so oft hatte es zuerst (im Kopf) genervt, aber dann (in der Realität) Freude gemacht :)).. und heute früh kurz nach 8 war ich wieder in der Druckerei und brachte - inshallah - das gab das endgültige Printfile ab! jetzt wird es ein paar Tage gehen, bis mich Rosato wieder anruft und sagt, ich solle kommen, um mit ihm den Probedruck zu korrigieren.

somit: wenn alles klappt, liegen hier bald (ich schätze in max. 10 Tagen) 1000 gefaltete Stadtkarten auf dem Tisch!

kaum war ich aus der Druckerei zurück, widmete ich mich wieder den beiden Leporelli. Ich gestalte ein kleines «Wasserzeichen» für die Stelle, wo die Briefmarke hin muss (Bild oben), und optimierte Grafik für Grafik und Foto für Foto für den Druck.

Morgen möchte ich dann einen ersten Probedruck aller Karten machen lassen, um die beiden Leporelli simulieren zu können .

Und dann will mit Silvia (die Stadträtin des sozialen) in der Crocevia vorbeischauen - das ist ein multikulturelles Zentrum in Lecce (check deren FB wenn es dich näher interessiert..) - um zu besprechen, ob wir dort das Präsentationsfest machen können.

hi hello everybody!

thanks a lot to all of you! especially to all those who joined as my new supporters, i’m very happy that we are already at almost 75%!

i actually wanted to take the weekend off and celebrate on the beach, or better said in and with the sea, because i brought the city-map-print-file to the print shop on saturday.

..but then Mr. Rosato (the boss of the printing house) called me on Saturday afternoon and asked me to pass by for a short visit, because there were problems with the folding - i had planned to fold it first horizontally and then vertically, but all the machines within a radius of 300 kilometres were too small for that he told me.

..he just had been on the phone for an hour, but everyone could fold the A1 large plan as required to pocket size only if we changed the folding directions.

Grrrrr… okay, we both didn’t know that, learned something new again - and right away on Sunday morning we went back to Lecce, where i was more or less busy all day long to restructure the map graphically.

above you can see the new folding plan, which can be found at the bottom left of the map.

..because therefore logically also the position of the backside of the folded map changed, I had to rethink and redesign the corresponding segments as well.

and as so often it had first (in my head) annoyed me, but then (in reality) made me happy. and this morning shortly after 8 o’clock i was back at the print shop and brought - inshallah - the final printfile!

now it will take a few days until Rosato will call me again and tells me to come and correct the proof with him.

sooo: if everything works out, soon (i guess in max. 10 days) 1000 folded city maps will be on our table!

as soon as I was back from the print shop, I dedicated the day to the two Leporelli. i first designed a small «watermark» for the place where the stamp has to go (picture above), and optimized graphic for graphic and photo for photo for the print.

tomorrow i would like to have a first test print of all postcards made to simulate the two Leporelli.

..and then Silvia (the social councillor of Lecce) and i want to visit the Crocevia - that’s a multicultural centre in Lecce (check their FB if you are interested…) - to discuss if we can have the presentation party there.

Gestern war großer Stadtkarten-Korrekturtag! Der Probeprint lag 1:1 und das erste mal farb-echt auf dem Tisch, und Daniela (de Rosa, die Freundin, Architektin und Leccekennerin, die mit bei der Karte hilft..) und ich gingen Punkt für Punkt, Element für Element durch und scannten die Arbeit nach Fehlern ab.

Und fanden wie immer erstaunlich viele! Kein Wunder, normalerweise arbeiten an einem so komplexen Projekt wie eine Stadtkarte eine ganze Redaktion - 8, 10 oder noch mehr Augen.. und Aufgabenfelder.

Es lief supergut mit Dani, und nach Stunden konzentrierter Arbeit waren wir durch und eine dicke Umarmung schloss den Tag ab.

Den Tag? Das Jahr! Eigentlich zwei Jahre, eines war ich ja Offline.. jedenfalls haben wir gestern am 15. July 2020 die Arbeit an der alternativen Stadtkarte Lecces offiziell abgeschlossen :))!

Ciao dears,

Yesterday was the big city map correction day! The test print was for the first time 1:1 in true colour on the table, and Daniela (de Rosa, the friend, architect and Lecce expert, who helps me with the map…) and I went through - point by point, element by element and scanned the work for errors.

And as always, we found an amazing number! No wonder, normally a whole editorial team works on a project as complex as a city map - 8, 10 or even more eyes.. and tasks.

It went super well with Dani, and after hours of concentrated work we were done and a big hug ended the day.

The day? The year! Actually two years, one I was offline… anyway, yesterday, July 15th 2020, we officially finished the work on the alternative city map of Lecce!

Above you see three images - details on which we took a close look at yesterday - the NOTE about the open-design-source-character of the map, the little welcome text, and the folding manual.

Thanks again Mali Malex for helping us with the English text!

Today I’m going to order a last test print, get the two files print-ready, and sign up for tomorrow morning at the Rosato print shop! Submissiooooooon :)))

eine andere Freundin und Leccekennerin, Simona, der ich Samstags den neuen Probedruck zeigte, machte mich darauf aufmerksam, dass der Hare Krishna Tempel, und das buddhistische Zentrum Lecces fehlten. au Backe, stimmt - aber jetzt sind auch diese Punkte gesetzt und beschrieben!

..und nachdem das File der Karte tatsächlich dem Ende entgegengeht - welches der baldige Anfang der gedruckten Karte in den Straßen bedeutet! - arbeite ich an diesem zweiten Leporello!

mir gefiel die einfache Idee, diese uralten Mitbewohner der Stadt zu zeigen - die Stadt via diesen Bäumen zu zeigen.

oben seht ihr zwei davon - der seit Wochen blühende Baum in der Via lo Re, und der riesige Ficus in der Via Santa Maria del Paradiso. lasst euch bitte überraschen welches die anderen 6 Bäume sind. später will mir Francesca (Schatz) dann helfen all jene Fotos auszusuchen, die es ins Leporello schaffen.

..und dann will ich auch noch Herrn Rosato von der gleichnamigen Druckerei anrufen, und ihn bitten mir Donnerstag oder Freitag morgen einen Termin zu geben, um die Einzelheiten des Drucks mit ihm zu besprechen.

werden es Daniela und ich schaffen, keinen argen Schnitzer finden, und das Printfile der Karte diese Woche abgeben können?

wow, ich glaube es ja fast nicht! nach dem langen, völlig unerwarteten Aus-Jahr, und dem anschließenden Lockdown, und alles was mich diese lange Zeit zwang loszulassen, sind wir jetzt wirklich und endlich soweit, und die Sache nimmt ihre geplante Gestalt an!

before Daniela will come this afternoon (this is the friend, architect and Lecce expert who helps me with the city map…), I’ll work on the second Leporello!

..another friend and Lecce connoisseur, Simona, to whom I showed the new proof on Saturdays, drew my attention to the fact that the Hare Krishna temple and the Buddhist centre of Lecce were missing. oops, thats right, but now also those spots are set and described on the map.

..and after the file of the map is actually nearing the end - which means the soon beginning of the printed map in the streets! - I am working on this second Leporello!

..i liked the simple idea to show these ancient inhabitants of the city - to show the city via them - these wonderful trees.

above you can see two of them - the tree in via lo Re, which has been flowering for weeks now, and the huge ficus in via Santa Maria del Paradiso. please be surprised which are the other 6 trees.

later Francesca (honey) will help me to choose all the photos that will make it into the leporello.

..and then I will also call Mr. Rosato from the print shop of the same name and ask him to give me an appointment on Thursday or Friday morning to discuss the details of the print with him.

will Daniela and I really be able to find no serious problem and pass the print file to Rosato this week?

wow, i almost can’t believe it! after the long, completely unexpected year-off, and the subsequent lockdown, and everything that forced me to let go for this long time, we are now really and finally ready, and the thing is taking its planned shape!

Super - wir haben die Schirmherrschaft des Rathauses! (siehe Mitte unten..)

Das war mir ganz wichtig. Jetzt können wir sicher gehen, dass die Straßenverkäuferinnen keinen Ärger bekommen, weil sie die Karte schwarz verkaufen.

Und das Logo von ModuModu, bzw. von Amadou bekam ich heute auch endlich (siehe Links unten..)! Jetzt lass ich die Mappe bis morgen Vormittag ruhen, und mach noch dann daran sie druckfertig zu machen.

Heute Nachmittag, nach einer Santa Siesta (!), will ich mit dem zweiten Leporello weitermachen.. die Fotos aussuchen.

Eso era muy importante para mí. Ahora podemos estar seguros de que los vendedores ambulantes no se meterán en líos por vender la mapa sin factura y nada.

Y finalmente conseguí el logo de ModuModu, respectivamente de Amadou hoy también (ver abajo a la izquierda..)! Ahora dejaré la mapa en reposo hasta mañana por la mañana, y luego empezaré a prepararla para la imprenta.

Esta tarde, después de la Santa Siesta (!), quiero continuar con el segundo Leporello… escogiendo las fotos.

Great - we have the patronage of the town hall! (see center below..)

That was very important to me. Now we can be sure that the street vendors won’t get into trouble because they sell the map without any receipt or anything.

And I finally got the logo of ModuModu, respectively from Amadou today as well (see bottom left..)! Now I’ll let the folder rest until tomorrow morning, and then I’ll start to make everything ready for printing.

This afternoon, after a Santa Siesta (!), I want to continue with the second Leporello… chose the photos.

Heute war grosser Korrekturtag!

Ich kann es fast nicht glauben, aber wenn es so geschmiert weiterläuft die nächsten Tag, dann geh ich nächste Woche mit der Stadtkarte in die Druckerei.

Also, Heute war Bildkorrektur- und Textkorrektur-Tag.

Vor ein paar Minuten habe ich auch die page in meiner www aktualisiert, so dass ihr einen besseren Eindruck gewinnt, als es das Bildlein hier oben erlaubt: https://omiotu.com/leccebilita_map/

Auf Seite A arbeitete ich seit Wochen an den Farben; eigentlich seid ich nach meinem langen Aus-Jahr wieder an den Tasten sitze. Ich stellte ’zig Versuche an, bis ich endlich einigermaßen zufrieden war. Das Ergebnis seht ihr unter obigem Link.

Ich wollte unbedingt eine «Nachtkarte» - eine die sich grundlegend von der Ästhetik anderer Karten unterscheidet, und die Tropfen, die Orte und Initiativen indizieren, wie Lichter auf der Schattenstadt zeigen.

Links unten gestalte ich einen einfachen Faltplan - der fehlt mir bei so großen (A1) Karten immer, und das Anfangs elegant zum Pocketformat gefaltete, endet immer in einem Knautschchaos. Das soll diesee kleine Anleitung verhindern helfen.

Auf Seite B arbeitete ich vor allem am letzten Abschnitt - dem kuratierten Graffiti-weg, den ich zusammen mit den Leuten vom Kollektiv «167 B/Street» erarbeitete.. Das bekamen wir heute endlich auch die Reihe!

Und dann setzte ich noch alle Rollstuhl-Icons, gemäss der Liste, die ich vor ein paar Tagen mit Donato Goia, der seit seiner Geburt in einem solchen sitzt, erarbeitete. Vielen Dank nochmals Donato!

Interessant: Covid19 bescherte uns nicht nur ca. 20 mal soviel Fahrradwege, während der Lockdown-Zeit lies das Rathaus auch ’zig Ecken an Straßenkreuzungen Rollstuhltauglich machen.

Und: Ich ging den ganzen Text auch nochmals wegen Fehler durch, prompt wimmelte es immer noch von kleinen Flüchtigkeitsteufelchen.

¡Hoy fue el gran día de las correcciónes!

Apenas puedo creerlo, pero si sigue funcionando así los proximos días, la semana que viene iré a la imprenta con el mapa!

Así que, hoy fue el día de la corrección de imágenes y del texto.

Hace unos minutos también actualicé la página en mi www, para que tengas una mejor impresión de lo que permite la foto de arriba:

En el lado A, he estado trabajando en los colores y los contrastes durante semanas; en realidad, desde que estoy de vuelta en el teclado después de mi largo año-off. Hice muchos intentos hasta que finalmente quedé bastante satisfecho. Puedes ver el resultado en el enlace de arriba.

Quería un «mapa nocturno», uno que fuera fundamentalmente diferente de la estética de otros mapas, y donde las gotas que indican lugares e iniciativas, son como luces en la ciudad de las sombras.

En la parte inferior a la izquierda, creo un simple manual de plegado - que siempre me falta en los mapas tan grandes (A1), y la inicial elegantemente plegada en formato de bolsillo siempre termina en un caos arrugado. Este pequeño tutorial debería ayudar a prevenir eso.

En el lado B, trabajé principalmente en la última sección - el camino del graffiti curado, que desarrollé junto con la gente del colectivo «167 B/Street». ¡Hoy por fin hemos conseguido eso también!

Y luego añadí todos los iconos de las sillas de ruedas, según la lista que hice hace unos días con Donato Goia, und amigo, que ha estado sentado en una desde que nació.

Interesante: Covid19 no sólo nos dio unas 20 veces más carriles bici, durante el período de bloqueo el ayuntamiento también trabajaba su innumerables esquinas en los cruces de las calles para hacerles accesibles a las sillas de ruedas.

Y: También repasé todo el texto de nuevo por errores, y claro, jolines, había todavía un montón de pequeños demonios estupidos.

¡Basta por hoy, mi cabeza de cartógrafo está zumbando! A domani :)

Today was big correction day!

I can hardly believe it, but if it continues to run like this the next days, then I’ll go to the printer with the city map next week.

So, today was image correction- and text-correction-day.

A few minutes ago I also updated the page in my www, so you get a better impression than the picture above allows:

On SIDE A, I’ve been working on the colors for weeks; actually, since I’m back at the keyboard after my long off-year. I made a lot of color- and contrast-attempts until I was finally quiet satisfied. You can see the result at the link above.

I wanted a kind of «night map» - one that is fundamentally different from the aesthetics of other maps, and where the «drops» that indicate places and initiatives, appear like lights on shadow-city.

At the bottom left, I created a simple folding-manual - that’s always missing on such large (A1) maps, and the initial elegantly folded pocket format always ends in a crumpled chaos. This little tutorial should help to prevent that.

On side B, I mainly worked on the last section - the curated graffiti path, which I developed together with the people from the collective «167 B/Street». Today we finally got that too!

And then I added all the wheelchair icons, according to the list I made a few days ago with Donato Goia, a friend who has been sitting in one since his birth. Thanks so much again Donato!

Interesting: Covid19 not only gave us about 20 times as many bike paths, during the lockdown period the city hall also made works on many corners at street crossings and made them wheelchair accessible.

And: I also went through the whole text again because of mistakes, and promptly there were still a lot of little stupid devils.

Als allererstes: Danke allen, die seit gestern dazugekommen sind - das sind sagenhafte 12 weitere Personen. Danke für euer Vertrauen! Und dass ihr mir helft, dass sich das Projekt herumspricht!

DIE NEWS: Heute gegen Mittag hatte ich eine wichtige Sitzung im Rathaus von Lecce, das heißt im Palazzo Carafa, und dort mit der Stadträtin für soziales, Frau Silvia Miglietta.

Dass wir zur Zeit eine sympathische Regierung haben, erkennt man schon an dem Amnesty-International-Banner, der aus einem der Rathausfenster hängt.

Von Frau Miglietta ganz zu schweigen. Ich freute mich richtig auf dieses Treffen, weil ich schon so viel gutes über sie hörte. Und in der Tat - was für eine offene, tolle Frau! Ich fühlte mich sehr willkommen, und unser gut einstündiges Gespräch war rundum produktiv.

Der Grund des Treffens war meine Anfrage, ob das Rathaus eine Schirmherrschaft für das Projekt übernehmen kann. Ich will auf keinem Fall, dass die Straßenverkäuferinnen Probleme bekommen, weil sie die Stadtkarten und Leporellos (wie alle ihre Produkte) schwarz verkaufen.

Eigentlich ist das rechtlich schon dadurch gegeben, dass das Projekt 100%ig karitativ ist (..erklärte mir mein Anwalt vor Monaten), denn niemand sonst außer den Verkäuferinnen verdient etwas daran, und als freier Verleger-K.O.G. ist es ganz klar als karitatives Produkt der Solidarität deklariert.

Aber ich wollte auf Nummer sicher gehen und deshalb die Sache mit Silvia sprechen. Bevor ich diesen Newsletter begann, schickte ich ihr und dem zuständigen Büro im Rathaus auch schon eine offizielle, schriftliche Anfrage (Richiesta di Patrocinio). Silvia versprach mir, das Projekt dem Bürgermeister Carlo Salvemini zu zeigen, und sich spätestens in zwei Tagen zurückzumelden. Ich hoffe mit dem Okay und dem Rathaus-Logo im Anhang.

Silvia war, das kann ich wirklich ohne zu übertreiben sagen, sehr begeistert vom Projekt. Ich zeigte ihr einen Probedruck der fast fertigen Stadtkarte und das erste grafische Leporello.

Wir mochten uns, und sagten, dass das nur der erste Streich war, den wir gemeinsam realisieren :) schon kommenden Sonntag treffe ich sie wieder, dann will sie mir ein «freies Kulturzentrum» und deren Betreiber vorstellen, sie meinte das würde dann sicher gleich funken zwischen uns!

Ich freue mich! Morgen will ich die letzten Korrekturen an der Karte vornehmen und das zweite Leporello beginnen zu layouten. Ich halte euch auf dem Laufenden ;)

En primer lugar: Gracias a todos los que se han unido a nosotros desde ayer - son 12 personas más! ¡Gracias por vuestra confianza! ¡Y por ayudarme a difundir el proyecto!

LAS NEWS: Hoy, hacia el mediodía, he tenido una importante reunión en el ayuntamiento de Lecce, es decir, en el Palazzo Carafa, y allí con la Consejera de Asuntos Sociales, la Sra. Silvia Miglietta.

El hecho de que tenemos un gobierno simpático en este momento se puede ya ver en la pancarta de Amnistía Internacional que cuelga de una de las ventanas del ayuntamiento.

E la Sra. Miglietta! Tenía muchas ganas para entra a esta reunión, porque ya he oído tantas cosas buenas sobre ella. Y en efecto, ¡qué mujer abierta y atenta! Me sentí muy bienvenido, y nuestra conversación, que duró una hora por meno, fue realmente productiva.

El motivo de la reunión fue mi petición de ver si el ayuntamiento podía asumir un patrocinio para el proyecto. No quiero que los vendedores ambulantes se metan en lios porque venden los mapas y los leporellos (como todos sus productos) en negro, sin nada fiscal..

En realidad, esto ya está legalmente dado por el hecho de que el proyecto es 100% caritativo (..mi abogado me lo explico hace meses), porque los las vendedoras ganan, y como editor-free de K.O.G. todo está claramente declarado como un producto caritativo de solidaridad.

Pero quería estar seguro y por lo tanto hablar del asunto con Silvia. Antes de empezar este News, ya le envié a ella y a la oficina responsable del ayuntamiento una petición oficial y escrita (Richiesta di Patrocinio). Silvia me prometió mostrar el proyecto al alcalde Carlo Salvemini y que me llamaría a más tardar en dos días. Espero con el visto bueno y el logotipo del ayuntamiento en el anexo.

Silvia estaba, puedo decir sin exagerar, muy entusiasmada por el proyecto. Le mostré una prueba de impresión del la mapa casi terminado y el primer leporello gráfico.

Nos gustamos y dijimos que esto era sólo lo primero que hacíamos juntos :) la veré de nuevo el próximo domingo ya, quiere presentarme a un «centro cultural autónomo» y a sus operadores, ¡dijo que esto seguro provocara chispas entre nosotros!

¡Estoy feliz! Mañana haré las últimas correcciones al mapa y empezaré a hacer el layout pare el segundo leporello. Te mantendré al día ;)

First of all: Thanks to everyone who’s joined us since yesterday - that’s a whopping 12 more people. Thank you for your trust! And for helping me to spread the word about the project!

THE NEWS: Today around noon I had an important meeting at Lecces City Hall, that is at Palazzo Carafa, and there with the Councillor for Social Affairs, Mrs. Silvia Miglietta.

The fact that we have a sympathetic government at the moment can be already seen from the Amnesty International banner hanging from one of the town hall windows.

Not to mention Mrs. Miglietta! I was really looking forward to this meeting, because I heard so many good things about her. And indeed - what an open, great lady! I felt very welcome, and our conversation, which lasted mor than an hour, was productive in all aspects.

The reason for the meeting was my request to see if the town hall could take on a patronage for the project. I don’t want the street vendors to get into trouble because they sell the city maps and leporellos (like all their products) without an invoice.

Actually, this is legally already given by the fact that the project is 100% charitable (..my lawyer explained me months ago), because nobody else but the ambulant vendors earn money from it, and as a free publisher K.O.G. it is clearly declared as a charitable product of solidarity.

But I wanted to be on the safe side and therefore talk it over with Silvia. Before I started this newsletter, I already sent her and the responsible office in the town hall an official, written request (Richiesta di Patrocinio). Silvia promised me to show the project to the mayor Carlo Salvemini and to get back to me in two days at the latest. I hope with the okay and the city hall logo in the attachment.

Silvia was, I can really say without exaggeration, very enthusiastic about the project. I showed her a sample print of the almost finished city map and the first graphic leporello.

We liked each other and said that this was only the first thing we did together :) I’ll meet her again next Sunday, she wants to introduce me to an «autonomous cultural centre» and its operators, she said that this would for sure provoce Ideas between us!

I am happy! Tomorrow I will make the last corrections to the map and start to layout the second leporello. I will keep you up to date ;)

And thanks again - for everything, and for helping me to make the project known ;)

WOW! ich staune und freue mich riesig, dass wir schon bei rund 1.600 € angekommen sind! nach nur zwei Tagen! Und ich will euch Danke sagen, viiiiielen Dank für euer Vertrauen, in mich und das Projekt!

Ich arbeite unterdessen an dessen Fertigstellung, das heißt an den Vorbereitungen für den Druck der Stadtkarte und an der Gestaltung des zweiten, fotografischen Leoporellos.

Gestern war ich deshalb auf dem Zentralfriedhof :) Davon habe ich euch zwei Bilder mitgebracht. ich wollte am späten Nachmittag eigentlich an den Strand, weil ich den ganzen Tag im Studio geschwitzt hatte, aber dann kam mir die Idee, die Bäume des Friedhofes zu besuchen.

ihr müsst wissen, dass ich für das zweite Leporello entschied, es mit Bäumen zu bestücken. mit den schönsten und wunderbarsten Bäumen Lecces! 8 Bäume als Protagonisten und die Stadt eher nebensächlich rundherum, im Hintergrund.

die Idee kam mir als ich Vali (ciao Vali!) ein Bild eines uralten, qietschvergnügten und riesigen Gummibaums schickte.. oder besser gesagt nach Valis Feedback darauf: wow, suuuuuuuperschöner Baum!

heute schaue ich mir alle Baumfotos an, die ich bisher schoss.. ich glaub ich hab schon alle 8e..

bei der Stadtkarte fehlt noch die Korrektur eines ganz wichtigen Teiles, um den kann ich mich hoffentlich auch heute noch kümmern: der Graffiti-Rundgang! Dafür arbeite ich mit 167B-Street zusammen. das ist ein Kollektiv von Graffitikünstlern, ohne deren Engagement wäre Lecce nur ein Viertel so schön, die machen echt eine ganz tolle Arbeit.

..und ich lud sie ein einen virtuellen Graffitirundgang auf der Stadtkarte zu kuratieren - heute wollte mir Anna, die Sprecherin von denen, ihre letzten Korrekturen und Anmerkungen schicken: oder ich muss nach San Cataldo ans Meer, wo sie wohnt.. und wir schauen es uns gemeinsam an.
