Am Abend des 5. Februar 1916 eröffneten die Dadaisten an der Spiegelgasse 1 die «Künstlerkneipe Voltaire», die später in «Cabaret Voltaire» umbenannt wurde. Der Saal im 1. Obergeschoss der damaligen «Meierei» ist heute noch vorhanden. 2002 wurde das Haus besetzt mit dem Ziel, die Zürcher Dada-Tradition am historischen Ort wieder aufleben zu lassen. Seit 2004 wird das Cabaret Voltaire als Kunstort
