What is your territory?

We think about territory, a central figure in our identity landscape, in potential of rupture. It is made of unquestioned assumptions that shape and organize societies, cultures and continue to legitimate Western power structures. Culture, ethnicity, religion are still used as markers of difference that create insiders/us against outsiders/others. We are looking for the possibilities that one can find in transcending a territory towards another and the potentials of dislocating the line.[…] often the sense in which someone feels himself to be not-foreign is based on a very unrigorous idea of what is ’out there’, beyond one’s own territory (E.Said)

3.-20. November 2017 at Raumschiff Linz.

The initiative ANELE RAGES was founded in 2017 following the big interest of engaging more intensively in the intersection of art, social space, politics, thought, theory and practice by creating a platform of exchange between diverse disciplines in which we find ourselves working. The exhibition is the first big project and was born out of the crazy idea to put our theoretical thoughts into practice. We wrote an open call in three languages to reach out to as many people as possible inviting them to engage theoretically or artistically in the subject of territory.

The exhibition

The call was very successful and we were overwhelmed by so much interest and so many submissions. Now our goal is to make this wonderful exhibition come true! The rich format of the exhibition from painting, photography, video, installation to performance and artist talks engages local and international artists as well as emerging and established artists, researchers and the public to exchange. Therefor and particularly to be able to give all the interesting artists space and possibility to show their works, we need your support!

A huge personal commitment and financial capital is needed to present an exhibition of this outstanding quality. We use the financial support for paying material costs to mount the exhibition, transport costs for works, to produce flyers, posters and a program for the exhibition and to give the artists the possibility to be physically part of the exhibition. In this way you do not only support our project but also young emerging artists to be able to show their works.

In return for your help, we are offering some unique rewards, made by three artists and the curators.

We are especially happy to welcome you at the exhibition!
