This is what it's all about.

A meeting point for everyone from the community and the surrounding region, that’s our dream. A place where people can enjoy a drink, fine food and each other’s company in a cozy atmosphere. When the opportunity arose to take over the lease of the historic Restaurant Schwanen, which was once known beyond the community’s borders, we jumped at the chance.

Traditional cuisine with a modern touch and the consideration of regional suppliers are just as important to us as motivated, fairly paid employees. Customer-friendly prices are central to a restaurant in the countryside. We knew that the restaurant business is a tough one, but we were still convinced that with our many years of experience in the restaurant business, including management experience, we could make our dream come true with our concept, hard work and good ideas.

In the first year, we welcomed many curious guests and groups. In the second year – we all need a little variety – there were a few less. Despite a good turnover in the first year, it was clear to us that there would be no profit left at the end of the year due to the investments. We did not expect to make a profit in the second or third financial year either.

Although we have achieved a certain stability, we had to draw on our reserves more heavily than we had assumed. This has led to them being depleted. Unfortunately, we cannot convert a small inheritance into liquid funds for the time being, and therefore we are unable to free ourselves from the situation we are in through our own efforts. It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to take this step and we hope for your highly valued support.

We admit it, we haven’t avoided making rookie mistakes. Whether it was placing too much trust in our fiduciaries, calculating prices too low at the beginning or investing too early to offer our guests even more. With a limited budget at a young age, we took a risk and tried to bring more life and culture to our surroundings and community. We organized an open-air concert series with great musicians - in the summer of 2024, which was hardly present with its rainy weekends. Or we set up the Stinkstübli; a converted, rustic chalet-style truck trailer where we served cheese dishes in a cozy atmosphere in the winter. The changed guest behavior since the pandemic – people go out less often, treat themselves to something good in their own cozy four walls more often, or spend less money in restaurants – also affects us.

We cannot guarantee that our business will be saved in the long term. But we guarantee that we will make a renewed effort. In a few months, we will analyze our numbers again and decide how to proceed. We also have more ideas up our sleeve and would like to try out to revitalize the restaurant in the current low-capacity times. For example, we are considering offering a fine breakfast menu.

This is what we need backing for.

Your help enables us to pay off debts from the early years – namely unexpected VAT back payments, ancillary wage costs and electricity bills and necessary purchases (replacement table linen, pots and pans). Having reached our financing target, we can agree realistic repayment plans with our creditors. We have already implemented initial optimizations and want to further strengthen our concept. Our aim is to turn this insider tip into a permanent fixture in the region. Support us and benefit from our enjoyable rewards.
