Perspectives on a City:

As the destination of our excursion this year, we jointly decided on Bremen’s twin city in Poland: Gdańsk. For ten days in April 2023, we worked there on different projects, but thematically united around the city of Gdańsk. After an initial research phase in Bremen, we realized our work on site. In our individual projects, we dealt photographically, graphically, and typographically with, among other things, the culture of remembrance, the women’s movement, the Solidarność movement, and the gentrification of Gdańsk. The city offered us many starting points for our own artistic exploration, and now we want to continue working collectively to bring our projects together in a publication. The past connects and separates Poland and Germany in equal measure. With our works and the publication, we are building a metaphorical bridge between the twin cities.

What’s special:

In addition to the manifold perspectives and approaches to the Polish metropolis of Gdańsk, our publication is characterized by a special form of binding that unites two books via a panoramic bridge and thus also creates a connection in haptic form. The two books can be read either one after the other or side by side and captivate with their complex intertwining of diverse contents.

For this you support us:

Due to the crises and the resulting inflation of recent years, prices have risen sharply even in the design sector, especially when it comes to printing and binding books. We kindly ask you for your support so that we can realize our project and thus make an important contribution to the town twinning of Bremen and Gdańsk, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026.
