제 3의 자연 – 예술 정원

Liebe Unterstützer*innen des Dritten Landes,

mit 600 Besuchern aus Berlin, Europa und der ganzen Welt und den koreanischen Musiker*innen, Bora Ju und Eun Jin Sung sowie der weltberühmten koreanischen Sopranistin, Sumi Jo, haben wir unseren Garten, «Das Dritte Land» am 23. Mai feierlich eröffnet. Ohne eure Unterstützung wäre «Das Dritte Land» nie entstanden. Wir bedanken uns ganz herzlich für eure Hilfe und das Mitfiebern während unseres Crowdfunding. Die aus Korea eingeflogenen Pflanzen haben sich mittlerweile in Berlin gut akklimatisiert, und haben angefangen aufzublühen.

Bis 15. November könnt ihr jederzeit «Das Dritte Land» besuchen, und an den verschiedenen Rahmenprogrammen teilnehmen. Wir arbeiten nun fleißig an der Produktion der Belohnungen, in Kürze melden wir uns persönlich bei Euch!

nach dem erfolgreichen Ende der Kampagne geht es spannend weiter: an diesem vergangenen Osterwochenende sind die meisten der Pflanzen angekommen, die in unserem Garten wachsen sollen.

die zarten Jungpflanzen mussten akribisch von Erde befreit und einzeln verpackt werden, um die lange Reise von Südkorea nach Deutschland antreten zu dürfen. Außerdem brauchten sie ein Pflanzengesundheitszeugnis, um die internationale Grenze zu passieren.

Die über 1500 Pflänzchen haben die Reise gut überstanden und werden inzwischen von den Künstlern Han Seok Hyun und Kim Seung Hwoe auf das Einpflanzen vorbereitet.

Währenddessen arbeiten wir auch an der Nachbereitung der Crowdfunding-Kampagne und natürlich an der Vorbereitung der Eröffnung von DAS DRITTE LAND - und wir halten euch auf dem Laufenden!

Dear friends,

Even after the successful end of the campaign things remain exciting: on this past Easter weekend, most of the plants that are supposed to grow in our garden have arrived.

The delicate young plants had to be meticulously freed from soil and individually packaged to begin the long journey from South Korea to Germany. They also needed a phytosanitary certificate to cross the international border.

The more than 1500 little plants have survived the journey well and are now being prepared for planting by the artists Han Seok Hyun and Kim Seung Hwoe.

Meanwhile, we are also working on following up the crowdfunding campaign and of course on the preparation of the opening of DAS DRITTE LAND - and we keep you up to date!

wir freuen uns, eine ganz besondere Veranstaltung ankündigen zu können: Die buddhistische Nonne Jeong Kwan aus Südkorea wird im Rahmen eines Artist Talk für besondere Förderer von DAS DRITTE LAND am 21, August in der St. Matthäus-Kirche ihre berühmten Tempel-Speisen servieren.

Jeong Kwan ist eine zenbuddhistische Nonne aus der Chunjinam-Eremitage des Baekyangsa-Tempels, etwa 160km südlich von Seoul. Sie kocht dort für Nonnen und Gäste. Bekannt wurde sie durch eine ihr gewidmete Folge der Netflix-Serie «Chef’s Table». Für uns kommt sie nach Berlin.

Die Teilnahme an diesem einmaligen Event, in dem nicht nur Deutschland und Südkorea, sondern auch die christliche Kirche und der Zen-Buddhismus zusammentreffen, kann als Belohnung in unserem Crowdfunding erworben werden!

We are pleased to announce a very special event: Accompanying an Artist Talk, the Buddhist nun Jeong Kwan from South Korea will be serving her famous temple food for special sponsors of DAS DRITTE LAND on August 21 in St. Matthäus Church.

Jeong Kwan is a Zen Buddhist nun from the Chunjinam Hermitage of the Baekyangsa Temple, approximately 160km south of Seoul. She usually cooks for nuns and guests of the temple. She became known through an episode of the Netflix series «Chef’s Table». For our project she will come to Berlin.

Participation in this unique event, which brings together not only Germany and South Korea, but also the Christian Church and Zen Buddhism, can be purchased as a reward in our crowdfunding!

Afterwards, botanical cocktails, prepared in collaboration with Gourmet Spirits Gin, are served.

Genau eine Woche und einen Tag nach dem Start unserer Kampagne haben wir eine Überraschung für euch: Es gibt einen neuen Reward! Innerhalb einer Artist Collaboration für DAS DRITTE LAND fertigt die koreanische Designerin Sojin Park mit ihrem Label ASSEMBLED HALF speziell für uns ein handbemaltes Leinenkleid.

Sojin ist im Jahr 2011 nach Berlin gekommen, um an der Esmod Design zu studieren. Nach ihrem Abschluss gründete die Designerin und Illustratorin 2015 ihr eigenes Label. Den Namen ASSEMBLED HALF hat sie gewählt, weil ihr Designprozess synthetisch ist – verschiedene Positionen, Kulturen und Kunstformen treffen in ihrer Arbeit aufeinander und werden zu einem harmonischen Ganzen vereint.

Jedes Stück von ASSEMBLED HALF ist einzigartig, denn die Schnitte werden nur in kleiner Stückzahl umgesetzt, und im Anschluss von Hand bemalt oder bedruckt. Für uns hat Sojin eine limitierte Edition von Leinenkleidern entworfen, die sie mit einem Blumenmuster, passend zu unserem Künstlergarten, verziert. Der Schnitt ist von Gartenschürzen inspiriert. Jedes Kleid ist ein Kunstwerk an sich – und kann sowohl als alltägliches Kleid als auch als ausgefallenes Accessoire zur nächsten Ausstellungseröffnung getragen werden.

exactly a week and one day after the start of our campaign we are happy to announce a new, very special reward! We are happy to collaborate with Korean designer Sojin Park and her Label ASSEMBLED HALF, who is making a special edition of hand-painted linen dresses for DAS DRITTE LAND.

Sojin came to Berlin in 2011 to study design at Esmod. After her graduation, the designer and illustrator founded her own label. She chose the name ASSEMBLED HALF because her design process is synthetic – different positions, cultures and art forms are brought together in her work to form new, harmonic designs.

Each piece by ASSEMBLED HALF is unique, as the patterns are produced in small numbers and painted or printed by hand. For us, Sojin has created a limited edition of linen dresses, hand-painted with flowers to match our art garden. Their cut is inspired by gardening aprons. Each dress is a work of art in itself – and can be worn in everyday life and as a fancy accessoire to the next exhibition opening alike.

our campaign has been online for three days, and with your support we can already bring 300 plants for DAS DRITTE LAND to Berlin. Thank you all so much, you are truly wonderful!

Today we are happy to introduce to you the enchanting singer-songwriter LANG LEE from Seoul, Korea. She will hold a concert in Berlin on June 7 to support our project. She also gave us the song that we used in our project introduction video here on wemakeit.

LANG LEE released her first Single in 2011. Ever since then, she makes charming singer-songwriter music with a touch of anti-folk attitude. Her slightly weird singing voice meets acoustic guitar meets gentle strings - it’s a perfect mix!

The song 임진강 (Im Jin Gang), which you probably already know from our project video, was written in 1957 for the lyrics of North Korean poet Pak Se-Yong. «Im Jin Gang» is about Im Jin river, running through Korea from north to south, as a symbol of freedom and unity. At the same time, the story of the song reflects the history of tensions between North and South Korea and Japan. «In Jin Gang» is forbidden in North Korea and was forbidden temporarily in South Korea, since it was connected with the student movement for democracy. Through a cover version the song became very popular in Japan and was subsequently rediscovered in South Korea in the 90s. That’s why LANG LEE sings her cover version on YouTube in Japanese.

Heute möchten wir euch unsere erste Artist Collaboration vorstellen: Die zauberhafte Singer-Songwriterin LANG LEE aus Seoul, die zur Unterstützung unserer Kampagne am 7. Juni ein Konzert in Berlin geben wird. Von ihr stammt auch der Song, den wir in unserem Vorstellungs-Video verwendet haben!

LANG LEE hat ihre erste Single im Jahr 2011 veröffentlicht. Seitdem macht sie charmante Singer-Songwriter-Musik mit einem Touch Anti-Folk Attitude. Leicht schräger Gesang trifft auf Akustik-Gitarre trifft auf zarte Streicher - eine perfekte Mischung!

Das Lied 임진강 (Im Jin Gang), das ihr schon aus unserem Projektvideo kennt, wurde 1957 mit den Texten des nordkoreanischen Dichters Pak Se-Yong geschrieben. Es handelt vom Im-Jing-Fluss, der von Norden nach Süden durch Korea fließt, als einem Symbol für Freiheit und Einheit. Gleichzeitig spiegelt die Geschichte des Liedes auch die Geschichte der Spannungen zwischen Nord- und Südkorea und Japan. «Im Jin Gang» ist in Nordkorea verboten, und war dies auch zeitweise in Südkorea, da es dort mit der Studentenbewegung verbunden wurde. Durch eine Coverversion wurde das Lied in Japan sehr populär, und im Anschluss daran auch im Südkorea der 90er wiederentdeckt. Deswegen singt LANG LEE ihre Cover-Version auf YouTube auf Japanisch.
