Matthias Taugwalder arbeitet als freischaffender Fotograf in Zürich. Er ist ein direkter Nachfahre der Bergführer Peter Taugwalder und Sohn, die das Drama der Erstbesteigung des Matterhorns am 14. Juli 1865 mit Edward Whymper überlebten. Studium Wirtschaftsinformatik an der Universität Zürich und «Redaktionelle Fotografie» an der Journalistenschule MAZ in Luzern.
