What it is about

We’ve often been asked, ’when will your first CD be out?’, and even though a recording project has been on the agenda for quite some time, a big problem for us has been finding sponsorship to pay for the costs of making a professional recording. However releasing a recording has now become a necessity for the development of the ensemble, so we’ve decided to take the plunge and have scheduled a recording for this Autumn. We have everything in place: the venue, the Eglise du Sacré-Coeur in Basel (a modern church with a great accoustic), has been booked, and we have René Ganne as our sound engineer. We are also very excited to have Anthony Rooley, the renowned lutenist and director of Consort of Musicke, as our producer.

The music we’re recording reflects our speciality as an ensemble : late Tudor and Jacobean madrigals, consort songs and viol music by composers including Byrd, Gibbons, Ferrabosco and Dowland. The songs have a common thread of love, life and death – timeless universal qualities that inspired some of the best pieces of art and literature from this era. The title of the CD is taken from one of Gibbons’ madrigals, ’Fair is The Rose’.

As an ensemble we have already contributed personally towards this project but now we need your support! We hope to raise 4800 CHF, and are seeking to do this through a variety of means – our Wemakeit target of at least 3000 CHF in 45 days is one of them. We hope that promoting the project this way will help us achieve our financial goal and allow our friends and supporters around the world to join us in bringing this CD to life, as well as introducing our sound world to a new audience.

With huge thanks for your generosity!
