This is what it's all about.

春の軌跡 Haru no kiseki means: Spring path, or miracle of spring. A few years ago before the country closed hermetically to any foreign visit, I had the chance to travel to Japan, to discover the island of Shikoku and its ancestral circular pilgrimage. Freely on the sides of the road, the paths, through forests and orchards, by the sea or in the mountains, in the big cities and the small villages, step by step on the asphalt or on the moss, in the freshness of spring the path unfolded. Through sumptuous landscapes and in the daily life of the Japanese people, joining in turn 88 Buddhist temples and other numerous sanctuaries, in the footsteps of the monk Kobo Daichi, founder of Shingon Buddhism. At a time when the country is timidly opening its doors again, I have chosen to publish my travel diaries to share with you the lasting memory that this adventure has left me. Five of them are grouped together in this book, a collection of moods and found objects, poetic and diverse illustrations, traces of a gaze set on the unknown.

My project is special because ...

All funding will be used to print the book byr Escourbiac for its great expertise. A beautiful book with a habit as white as the one of the pilgrim, and with a heart filled with images and memories. I chose munken pure paper for its wonderful texture. 80 pages for a walk in the unknown, published in a small number of 500 copies in the format 30 x 23 cm centimeters for a very beautiful object with visible sewing. Since my first publishing project three years ago for which you generously supported me, I have created my little publishing house «le Courant Noir». If the goal is exceeded, the money will fund a new collection of Indian ink Leporellos albums to be released next year. In order to thank you for your support, several rewards are possible… postcards, gustatory pleasures and why not an original work produced following my trip? On my website in the Japan section you can also discover a series of illustrated envelopes posted from Kyoto as well as my other creations. Thank you in advance for your support

Many thanks...

Thanks to the frogs and locusts for their tireless songs, to the marvelous fireflies and their little light in the night. Thank you to the gurgling of the springs, to the quiet rice fields where the heron stands motionless. Thank you to the inhabitants of these places for their extraordinary kindness and generosity: a coffee, a gesture of encouragement, a few words, sometimes even a roof and a meal. Thank you to the lanterns of the temples, to the singing monks and thank you to the moon, infinitely beautiful and poetic. Thank you to the Pacific Ocean for its infinite blue, thank you to the cherry blossoms. Thanks to the waitress at the ghost restaurant, the dressed up dog and the lady who read her book aloud. Thanks to my Umbrella.
