Who are we?

Tifawine is a non-profit association that works for the development of the region of Ait Milk in the Souss Massa in Morocco. Co-managed between Lausanne (Switzerland) and Ait Milk (Morocco), we provide means of subsistence to the most vulnerable people, participate in the construction of various basic infrastructures on the spot, and help the development of agriculture in the region. After various fundraising activities in this sense, we are launching a new campaign to improve access to education for the children of the region and to avoid school dropouts.

The current situation

The middle school in the commune of Ait Milk is attended by children from 28 surrounding villages. For the 2021-2022 school year, 326 students must travel an average of 20 kilometers to get to school each day. For this purpose, 6 buses with 27 seats each are used for school transportation. In the absence of any other solution, these 6 buses run daily at twice their capacity and have to make numerous detours to pick up the children in the surrounding villages. This situation is eminently dangerous in terms of safety for the students and transforms the journey to school into a trip full of anxiety and stress. In view of this, and in view of the constant increase in the number of students entering the school, it is therefore urgent to do everything possible to increase the transport capacity.

Two more buses as a first step towards a sustainable solution

The association Tifawine has therefore found two school buses in Switzerland that meet all quality and safety criteria and that will make the situation more sustainable and increase safety of the children on their way to school.

Given the urgency of the situation, the CHF 11’000.- necessary for the purchase of these two buses have already been advanced and the process of transportation to Morocco has been undertaken.

We are therefore launching this campaign to finance this purchase and the necessary expenses for their transport (CHF 5000.- for the two buses).

By helping us, you contribute to more than the purchase of two buses; you promote access to education for the children of the region.
