Flavio Terraneo Mini Farm

This is what it's all about.

Hello everyone, my name is Flavio and below I wanted to illustrate my idea.

The project wants to lead to the construction by me of a «mini farm» with the aim of creating natural and artisan products with respect for the territory and creating a new oasis for the various pollinating insects.

To realise this dream, I need you so that I can equip myself and grow my business.

I chose to value pollinating insects as I increasingly notice their lack.

The latter are very important as it must be remembered that, approximately 2 out of 3 known species of animals are insects; the loss of these groups will therefore play an important role in outlining the biosphere of the near future, with an effect called cascading extinctions: briefly, the extinction of some species can in turn lead to the extinction of other groups of animals or plants

Ecosystems would be greatly affected by the loss of pollinators since, most flowering plants depend on insects for their reproduction. Insects are also predators and prey: their disappearance would undoubtedly destabilise trophic networks.

If all pollinators disappeared, there would be a diet quality problem, which would therefore lead to an increase in diseases.

In addition, working in the restaurant world I see more and more products that are scarce in taste and appearance, forced and out of season.

Consequently, I would always like in my own small and artisanal level to create products such as: honey, vegetables … respecting our territory as much as possible.

In addition, with the latter you can create delicious and artisan pastry products.

My project is special because ...

Special there is the union of three of my great passions, namely horticulture, beekeeping and pastry.

Create through this amateur activity, excellent handicrafts, respecting as much as possible the territory, nature and seasonality.

All this combined with a pinch of technology, which allows me to sell products online but especially allows me to have modern hives, thanks to which it takes much less equipment and time to extract honey, disturbing the bees less.

You may wonder what kind of plants do you want to grow that can also be used in pastry?

For example, strawberries can be sold directly, used to decorate a dessert, can be blended to create a mousse… or turned into a delicious compote. The latter to sell directly or use it to stuff cakes, tarts … the possibilities are many and all incredibly delicious.

The same thing can be done on other vegetables or fruits, such as rhubarb, berries (lams, blackberries, blueberries), with radicchio, spinach or leek you can make delicious savoury pies.

Manure to fertilise the vegetable garden would come directly from a nearby stable.

In addition, I would like to insert a greenhouse, thanks to which to sprout (in the months of March- April) the seeds of the plants to be used later in the garden, and in the summer months use it to grow chilli plants of different varieties, and then transform its fruits into spicy sauce, spicy oil, dried chilli …

There is the possibility of growth in the future, with the inclusion of farmyard animals (Quaglie, goats …) and with the expansion of the garden …

Finally, this idea is part of a larger project divided into 2 phases:

The first is the creation of the ’mini farm’ from which to collect fruit, vegetables and honey.

The second phase will lead to the creation of a food truck, thanks to which it will be possible to sell the products directly or turn them into delicious desserts to be resold throughout Switzerland.

This is what I need backing for.

I need support because I do not currently have all the funds I need to realise my project. I need your help to start this new adventure, and step by step increase the number of hives, enlarge the garden …

For this reason I have set up a cost estimate to start my project, so that we can better show you how your supports will be used:

• 4500 Chf for 5 hives

• 500 Chf for 5 Syphons

• 950 Chf for the construction of the vegetable garden (terriccio + borders)

• 450 Chf for electric fence (hives protection)

• 500 Chf for various accessories ( brush cutter, wheelbarrow, tools …)

• 1500 Chf For the greenhouse (seed growth + chilli pepper cultivation)

• 1000 Chf annual land rent
