Let's break the taboo of sexual abuse
The statistics are staggering – and it affects women, men, and children. Even though the topic is being talked about more and more – in films, the media, and on social networks – much still remains to be done. For many, it is still a taboo.
LIGHT ON SHADOW is a powerful initiative that aims to restore dignity and confidence to victims through photographic portraits created by the artist and photographer Benny Tache, who himself was a victim of sexual abuse in his youth. Benny is known for his strong and authentic portraits.
Lightonshadow.com is a high-quality website where those portrayed are shown with dignity and represented in their authenticity. Each portrait is accompanied by the person’s written story – and, if agreed on, by a video testimony. The content will be published on our website in French, German, and English, and – with the person’s consent – also shared on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, to inspire, raise awareness, and offer support.
Our vision is to create an inspiring, 24/7-accessible space worldwide – to help those affected feel less alone, and maybe find the courage to speak out and ask for help. LIGHT ON SHADOW also aims to raise public-awareness.
We will collaborate with public and private partners who share our values and vision. The more portraits are published, the greater the impact of lightonshadow.com will be.
LIGHT ON SHADOW and its Founders
LIGHT ON SHADOW is a newly founded non-profit association. The core team consists of three people living between Montreux and Lausanne in Switzerland: Benny Tache, artist and photographer as well as president of the association, Stéphanie Jardon-El Hiny, mediator, Palo Alto therapist and co-president, and Coco Tache, ethical journalist, connector and head of communication. Each of us brings our individual expertise to this project – from the art of photography to therapeutic support and conscious communication.
For us, LIGHT ON SHADOW is a response to the urgent need to break the taboo surrounding sexual abuse and to give voice to those who have been affected.
How do we work? We offer victims of sexual abuse who reach out to us a safe and supportive space where they can express themselves freely and with confidence. This photographic and artistic approach in such a sensitive field is truly original and unique. The experience of the photo shoot with the artist becomes a meaningful and powerful moment in the individual’s personal journey. Anyone who feels ready to take this important step is welcome to contact us at: info@lightonshadow.com. Our selection process is completely open – we receive and welcome the stories shared with us, and collaborate with those who feel ready to share theirs. Together, we agree on how their story will be shared – whether exclusively on the website or also on social media. Reaching out does not imply any obligation – it is always possible to step back at any time. Stéphanie is available for anyone who feels the need for therapeutic support during this key process.
What’s next? With the support of the community and our partners, we want to increase the visibility of the project and create a meaningful and powerful platform.
We are convinced that this meaningful project has the power to spark a forward-thinking and deeply positive movement – for those affected, the people around them, and for raising awareness in society.
