This is what it's all about.
Born in Fribourg in 1925, Jean Tinguely was a painter and sculptor specialising in kinetic (moving) art. His pieces have been displayed all over the world, and he has two museums dedicated to his work in Switzerland: in his birthplace Fribourg and in Basel, where he grew up and studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule.
To celebrate 100 years since his birth, Helvetiq hopes to publish a children’s book about his life and work in April 2025, working with author Elisabeth Norton and illustrator Eva Rust.
Rewards are available only to European and US supporters due to shipping costs, but the book will be available through our website for worldwide purchasing after publication. All rewards will be delivered after publication of the book next year.
My project is special because ...
This book will teach kids about an important Swiss artist, combining themes of scientific and artistic innovation, which are so important in the modern world.
Elisabeth says: «We are excited to introduce a new generation in Switzerland and around the world to this amazing artist and his work through the picture book. The book gives an overview of Jean Tinguely’s life and art, including the themes of sound, motion, and event as art, that Tinguely explored throughout his artistic career.»
This is what I need backing for.
We need your support to help give Elisabeth and Eva the time and space they need to create this wonderful book. Once we pay the fundraising costs, anything we raise goes straight to Elisabeth and Eva as an advance for their work.
